Afghanistan

Batting R B 4s 6s SR
Hazratullah Zazaic Evin Lewis b Keemo Paul 50 59 7 2 84.75
19.5
K Paul to H Zazai, OUT! CAUGHT! Fifty and out! Zazai must be kicking himself. Paul bowls a short of a length delivery on middle, Zazai pulls it over mid-wicket but does not get the distance on it. It goes towards Evin Lewis who comes in from the deep and takes a very good low catch. Big wicket for West Indies as Hazratullah has been the only one so far in this innings who was hurting the West Indian bowlers. Zazai would be disappointed, maybe the milestone brought in a lapse of concentration.
Ibrahim Zadranlbw b Alzarri Joseph 2 9 0 0 22.22
2.4
A Joseph to I Zadran, OUT! LBW! Beautiful piece of bowling from Alzarri Joseph! The debutant does not make much of an impact here! After constantly bowling in the channel outside off, Alzarri changes his line and goes fuller on middle and off. Ibrahim looks to flick but is late in getting his bat down. He misses and the ball hits him flush on the pads. The West Indies players put in an appeal and the umpire raises his finger immediately. Once again a poor start for Afghanistan.
Rahmat Shahc Nicholas Pooran b Keemo Paul 10 17 0 1 58.82
9.3
K Paul to R Shah, OUT! CAUGHT! Afghanistan lose their second wicket. Short of a length delivery, Shah looks to pull it behind square on the leg side but the ball comes earlier than he anticipated. Rahmat manages to lob it towards deep mid-wicket. Nicholas Pooran at deep square leg runs to his left and takes a comfortable catch. Crucial wicket for West Indies at this stage as Rahmat Shah has been one of the best Afghanistan batters in this side.
Ikram Ali Khil (W)b Keemo Paul 9 29 0 0 31.03
17.3
K Paul to Ali Khil, OUT! TIMBER! Ikram's struggle at the crease comes to an end! This though is a brilliant piece of bowling from Keemo Paul. He bowls a very full delivery on off, Ikram looks to drive this but it goes past his bat and it picks out the off stump. West Indies are picking up wickets at regular intervals. Afghanistan need a partnership from somewhere to get back in this game.
Asghar Afghanc Romario Shepherd b Alzarri Joseph 86 85 3 6 101.18
48.5
A Joseph to A Afghan, OUT! CAUGHT! A magnificent innings comes to an end from Asghar Afghan! He has got his side to a respectable total here. Good length ball outside off, Afghan looks to loft this over cover but it goes off the top edge towards short third man. Romario Shepherd settles under it and takes a simple catch.
Najibullah Zadranc Brandon King b Roston Chase 30 32 4 0 93.75
28.3
R Chase to N Zadran, OUT! CAUGHT! Roston Chase comes back on and immediately makes an impact. He sends Najibullah Zadran back to the pavilion. Chase bowls a floated ball around off, Zadran attempts to defend but it goes off the outside edge and into Brandon King's hands at first slip. He takes it sliding forward. A good partnership comes to an end between these two but they needed to continue.
Mohammad Nabinot out 50 66 3 1 75.76
Rashid Khan (C)c Hayden Walsh b Romario Shepherd 0 3 0 0 0
49.6
R Shepherd to R Khan, OUT! CAUGHT! Rashid Khan perishes in an attempt to finish the innings with a bang. Shepherd bowls a short delivery on off, Khan rocks on his back foot and pulls this towards the deep mid-wicket region but does not time it well. Hayden Walsh settles under it and pouches it safely over his head. With this, AFGHANISTAN END ON 249 FOR 7.

Batting R B 4s 6s SR
Shai Hopenot out 109 145 8 3 75.17
Evin Lewislbw b Mujeeb Ur Rahman 1 4 0 0 25
2.1
Ur Rahman to E Lewis, OUT! LBW! Afghanistan get their first breakthrough. Flighted delivery on middle and leg, Lewis looks to flick off the back foot but misses it and gets hit on the pads. The bowler appeals for lbw and the umpire raises his finger immediately. This always happens with Lewis. He does not like to come forward and hence, has been sent back. Not the start West Indies would have wanted. It was hitting the middle and leg stump.
Shimron Hetmyerlbw b Mujeeb Ur Rahman 0 3 0 0 0
2.4
Ur Rahman to S Hetmyer, OUT! Another LBW! Oh dear... the man promoted to number 3 has lasted only three balls. The carrom ball, around off and middle, Hetmyer does not pick it at all. Just plays outside the line, expecting it to come straight on but the ball just skids through, goes past the inside edge and hits him on the pads. An appeal and the umpire does not have any problem.
Brandon Kingb Rashid Khan 39 56 5 1 69.64
19.2
R Khan to B King, OUT! BOWLED! The Afghanistan skipper strikes in the very second ball of his first over. The partnership was starting to find its run-flowing feet but that has hit a wall here. The googly does the trick. It is slightly quicker as well. It starts around off and turns in. King looks to defend but Rashid dethrones him and hits the stumps. Brandon's promising debut comes to an end. 182 runs more needed here. Afghanistan back on top of this game.
Nicholas Pooran (W)c Ibrahim Zadran b Sharafuddin Ashraf 21 26 1 1 80.77
28.3
S Ashraf to N Pooran, OUT! Caught! Pooran has holed out and the Afghans smile once again. Has this opened the door a bit more ajar? Pooran walks back hitting the ground with his bat in disgust. Full and around middle, Nicholas comes down the track and looks to accept the invitation. He is not quite able to get to the pitch of the ball and looks to go wide of long on. But to his dismay, he watches Ibrahim Zadran run across to his left and take a decent catch. Ashraf celebrates. The 51-run stand is broken. 131 more needed from 129 balls.
Kieron Pollard (C)c Najibullah Zadran b Mohammad Nabi 32 26 1 2 123.08
37.5
M Nabi to K Pollard, OUT! CAUGHT! Massive, massive wicket. The big-hitting Pollard is gone. Flighted delivery on middle, Pollard flicks it away but cannot keep it down. It goes straight to short mid-wicket where Najibullah Zadran takes a sharp catch. Afghanistan get the dangerous Pollard at a crucial time. The skipper looks at the ground in anger, then trudges off. Game on? 68 more needed from 73 balls. 5 wickets in hand.
