Afghanistan and Hong Kong take each other on in the 5th match of the 2016 Asia Cup Qualifier for the main rounds of the Asia Cup Twenty20 (T20) 2016. Afghanistan and Hong Kong will play their encounter at Fatullah on the February 22. The final winner of the qualifier will join India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the main event starting on February 24. Other teams participating in the qualifier round are UAE and Oman.
Afghanistan is expected to be the better side from the two and they are also the ninth team in T20I rankings. Though, they have a pretty poor record against Hong Kong in T20Is. So far, Hong Kong and Afghanistan have played three T20Is against each other in which the latter has won 2. So, the upper hand will be in Hong Kong’s side as per the records.
The main cricket tournament will take place from February 24 with hosts Bangladesh taking on India. Other teams in the tournament are Sri Lanka and Pakistan with the 6th team to qualify from the qualifier group stage. The final of the tournament will take place on March 6th at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka.
