So that concludes the 2016 Asia Cup. India have had great practice ahead of the World T20. They have won as many as 10 out of their last 11 games. Dhoni spoke about the side being well-settled and surely, they are red-hot favourites for the crown. We still have a bit of time though. A few teams have already arrived in India, while the rest will be there in a few days time. The qualifiers have already begun and Bangladesh will be playing the qualifiers for a place in the main tournament. Good luck to them, for they played excellent cricket here in the Asia Cup. It was great bringing all the action to you. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. Looking forward to your company for the qualifiers. Goodbye!
As of now, under MS Dhoni's able leadership, India have won eight tournaments. He finds himself in the fourth place in that regard.
MS Dhoni also became the first Indian to thump 300 international sixes.
MS Dhoni has ended a T20I with a six on three occasions now (successful run-chases).
This is also the second occasion that India have won the Asia Cup, with MS Dhoni as the captain.
India have now won all their eight encounters batting second in T20Is in Mirpur.
This was the first time, India took part in a rain curtailed game in T20Is. The Indian camp would be pleased that they ended up on the winning side.
It is also their seventh successive victory in T20Is. It equals India's best run in this format of the game.
This is already the most number of matches that India have won in a calendar year in T20Is.
India have been on a roll in the shortest format of the game, in recent times. They have won 10 out of their last 11 encounters. Their only loss in that period came against Sri Lanka in Pune.
This is the sixth time, India have won the Asia Cup. As a result, India have now won the most number of Asia Cups. India also had emerged triumphant in the inaugural Asia Cup by defeating Pakistan in 1983-84 in Sharjah (50-over format).
India put up a fine all-round show to usurp Bangladesh in the final and lift the coveted Asia Cup trophy. Here are a few interesting stats related to India's noteworthy triumph.
As Dhoni was being interviewed, the rest of the players were busy taking a group selfie on their phones! Now Dhoni collects the trophy and his team-mates join him before posing for the cameras.
Dhoni: 'Thanks to the top-order batsmen, they have been doing really well. In the last few games that we have played, the top-order batsmen have done most of the job. They gave us a good platform once again. I think it is important for us to get a settled combination and that's what we have got right from the Australian series. We are on track for the World T20. The beauty about (Jasprit) Bumrah is that he has the yorkers. He has a slightly different action as well. Hardik (Pandya) can bowl a few overs for us and he can bat and field as well, it's a great package. Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) is someone who loves to bat at No. 4, but looking at this team it's really difficult to give him that slot but he's really adjusted batting at No.5. Not just the top eleven, the rest of the guys in this side are match-winners as well. The good thing is they shoulder responsibility and never leave it to someone.'
Now time for the Indian players to get their medallions.
Mortaza: 'I think credit goes to the boys, they played really well. Disappointed that we didn't do well in the final. The boys are really working hard. We have some exciting batsmen and bowlers, hopefully this team will carry on from here. We have to play the qualifiers first before the World T20. We are looking forward to it.'
The Bangladeshi players receive their medallions.
Sabbir Rahman is the Man of the Series. He scored 176 runs across 5 matches, at a SR of nearly 124.
Dhawan: 'It is very special (to get this award tonight). The best thing is we won the tournament. We worked hard as a team. Performing at the right time was good. We were comfortable while chasing and we never felt the pressure and things were under control. It is good to win matches for the side.'
Shikhar Dhawan is the Man of the Match for his timely fifty.
