    • So that is it for the coverage of this game! The Indians, just like in the ODIs they were dominant in this game. Australia's problems against spin continue and if they don't find a solution it will get difficult for them in the next game also which will be played on 10th October at Guwahati at (0130 GMT) 1900 local. Till then, good bye and take care!

    • Man of the Match, Kuldeep Yadav is really happy to get his first Man of the Match award in this format. Adds he had specific plans on how to bowl to Finch and persisted with an overpitched ball which finally reaped him dividends. Informs he always looks for wickets and is not afraid of being taken for runs. Ends by saying he is gaining a lot of confidence by playing against top teams.

    • Virat Kohli credits the bowlers first up by saying they were up to the mark. He feels the DLS method is tough to understand. Further adds 48 in 6 overs can get tricky. Reckons it is a combined effort from the players. Mentions the management has done well by picking specialist for each formats. Admits the bowling group is coming off nicely and he is happy with the group of players he has. Opines a cool head and god skills is what's required for the T20 format. Ends by saying Shikhar was unfortunate to miss out on so many games as he was in brilliant form. They need Dhawan to be in form and to play well.

    • David Warner says, it is a poor result for them and they have to come back in the second game. He admits they did not deserve to win the game. Credits the bowlers for their effort. He mentions he has no reason for the collapse and it is their story for the last 12 months. Finishes off by saying Behredroff is a good talent for the future.

    • Earlier in the day - India won the toss and opted to bowl first. They had Australia on the mat at 118-8 with 8 balls left in their innings before rain intervened. After a long delay they were give a target of 48 in six overs and they got there quite comfortably. They now take a 1-0 lead in the T20I series. Stay tuned for the presentation in a while.

    • India win their 7th consecutive T20I game against the Aussies! To be honest, it was all India after the first innings. Their run chase started in sublime fashion with a boundary and a maximum on the first deliveries of the first two overs. The wicket of Rohit Sharma by Coulter-Nile did give Australia some hope but Kohli came in and ensured there were no further hiccups and he along with Dhawan took India to victory.

    • 5.3Daniel Christian to Virat Kohli. FOUR, FOUR! Kohli finishes it off in style! INDIA WIN BY 9 WICKETS (DLS)! Christian bowls it fuller in length on off, Kohli lofts it over extra cover to seal it for his side.

    • 5.2Daniel Christian to Virat Kohli. 2 runs, BRILLIANT COULTER-NILE! He has kept the Australians in the game! Shorter in length by Christian on middle. Kohli comes down the track and pulls it through backward square leg. Nathan in the deep runs to his right and makes a diving top to save two for his team. 3 needed now from 4.

    • 5.1Daniel Christian to Shikhar Dhawan. 1 run, Starts off from around the wicket and bowls a slower one outside off. Dhawan cuts it hard but straight to the man at deep cover for a run. 5 from 5 now.

    • Daniel Christian to bowl the last over. They need 6 from 6. Can he win it for Australia?

    • End of over 5 ( 6 Runs )IND 42/1 4.6Adam Zampa to Virat Kohli. no run, The batsman drives this through the covers.

    • 4.5Adam Zampa to Shikhar Dhawan. 1 run, Slower through the air. Dhawan comes down the track and chips it towards long on for a run. Warner puts in an ambitious dive from mid-wicket but he was never going to get there.

    • 4.4Adam Zampa to Shikhar Dhawan. no run, Dances down the track and times it to covers.

    • 4.3Adam Zampa to Shikhar Dhawan. no run, ALMOST! Quicker and outside off, zips off the surface. Dhawan goes for the cut but gets beaten.

    • 4.2Adam Zampa to Virat Kohli. 1 run, Similar length delivery on leg stump, skids off the surface. Kohli tries to play it through mid-wicket but gets an inside edge towards short fine leg for a run.

    • 4.1Adam Zampa to Virat Kohli. FOUR, FOUR! Starts off with a shorter in length delivery on leg stump. Kohli rocks back and whips it through square leg for a boundary. 8 needed now of 11 balls.

    • Adam Zampa to bowl the penultimate over.

    • End of over 4 ( 9 Runs )IND 36/1 3.6Nathan Coulter-nile to Shikhar Dhawan. no run, Shortish length outside off, Dhawan goes for the upper cut but gets beaten. There is a stifled appeal but nothing from the umpire.

    • 3.5Nathan Coulter-nile to Virat Kohli. 1 run, Fullish ball on off, Kohli drives it down to long off for a run.

After the conclusion of the five-match ODI series, India and Australia gear up for the shortest format. The three-match T20I series will commence in JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi. The second game will be played in Guwahati, whereas Hyderabad will play host to the series decider. India will be overwhelming favourites against visitors who are ranked No. 6th in the ICC T20I rankings. India, at 5th, aren’t way ahead as well, but the head-to-head record puts the ball in their court.

Out of 13 T20Is, India have emerged on top of Australia on 9 occasions. At home, India are yet to lose a T20I versus Steven Smith’s side. Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and their spinners will hold fort going into the series.

Australia have a lot of unsolved queries when it comes to this format. They have failed to qualify for the semi-finals of ICC World T20I since the fourth edition, never attained the No. 1 rank and lost the last series to India. In 2016, India whitewashed Australia on their home soil. Hence, visitors will be wary of the opposition’s strengths.

The last T20I between India and Australia, played in India, was during the WT20I 2016. The match was held in Mohali wherein India defeated Australia by 6 wickets to progress to the knockouts.  It will be interesting to see Australia’s approach in the series opener in Dhoni’s hometown, Ranchi.
