New Zealand beat Australia by 7 wickets | Vs 5th T20I match
More...
Right then. Kane Williamson and his boys have the trophy and they will be pleased with this result. That is all we have for you, not from the game, but from the series itself. New Zealand has done really well to wrap the series up 3-2 and will look to celebrate now. Whereas, Finch and his boys tried but were not able to cross the line. We have enjoyed bringing our coverage to you from this series and we hope you have enjoyed it too. Hoping to have your company for any future games. With this, you bid you adieu. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
Kane Williamson, the New Zealand skipper, says that they had to work hard to win this series and it was a challenge and it was pleasing to come off with a series win. Feels that they know how strong the Australian team is and that they adapted well in the last game and the surface was slightly better today. Says that when you play 3 games on only one surface, the slower bowlers on this wicket will play a major role and that they did well. Gives his thanks to Finch and the Australian team for coming out here and making it possible for this series to happen.c
Aaron Finch, the Australian skipper, says that they went aggressive with the bat. Adds that they lost wickets regularly and that did not help them in setting a good score. Mentions that batsmen got starts but nobody could convert it into a big one. Further says that there was a bit of moisture on this wicket. Finch also says that a couple of guys made their debut and it was an exciting series. Finch credits New Zealand for playing well throughout the series.
Ish Sodhi is the PLAYER OF THE SERIES! He says that he wanted to be aggressive and the other boys created pressure for him to strike. Feels that it was a good surface today and the batters adapted well today to chase the total down. Says that the other bowlers created pressure well and credits Boult, Southee, Santner as well, as they have bowled really well in this series.
Martin Guptill is named the MAN OF THE MATCH. He says that he is happy with his performance. Adds that it was all about firepower. Mentions that he wanted a partnership and that was a good one for them. Further says that he trusts his six-hitting ability and it paid off for him today.
Earlier in the day, Finch won the toss and decided to bat. By the looks of how the game panned out, it was not the best decision by him, but it all looks simple, in hindsight. Apart from Wade, none of the other Australian batters really got going and they kept losing wickets at regular intervals, which did not help their cause. The spinners were at the forefront for the Black Caps as Ish Sodhi led from the front, with contributions from Santner and also Boult. In the end, a well-deserved victory for New Zealand, one would say.
Not the best show with the ball by the Aussies. You can't pin all the blame on them as the total was already a low one, to begin with, but they still could have applied pressure from their end, which they were not able to do. They let Guptill and Conway dictate the tempo and were not able to break this stand. By the time, the first wicket fell, the game was already out of their grasp. Even though Riley snared 2 wickets, he was expensive. A night to forget for Zampa too, as he was sent all over the park. Overall, not the best performance by Finch's boys.
Easily done in the end by the Kiwis and they have wrapped up this 5-game T20I series, winning it by 3-2. It was a closely contested fight with the Aussies doing well to come back from 2-0 to 2-2 by the end of the 4th T20I, but the Black Caps have shown their dominance and have done well to win this series. They needed a strong platform to begin if they were to chase it down and the duo of Guptill and Conway ensured with their first wicket stand of 106, that the only result possible for New Zealand was a win. Guptill was on a roll as he went onto make 71 and even though these two departed, the job was done by then and the Black Caps have capped off a good series, with a win.

3 wickets down for NZ. Out batsman is Martin Guptill 14.1Jhye Richardson to Martin Guptill. out, OUT! CAUGHT! Guptill's brilliant innings comes to an end but the crowd is on their feet as they show their appreciation! He departs for 71 but he has done his job really well. Shortish and around off this time, Martin Guptill looks to pull this one to the leg side but the ball takes the top edge and flies towards the short fine leg region. Mitchell Marsh settles under this one and takes a nice, tumbling catch. 19 needed in 35 balls.
