    • That's it from this Pink Ball Test as Australia win comprehensively to lead the 4-match series 1-0. Virat Kohli goes home for the birth of his first child as Ajinkya Rahane takes over the mantle from him. Will a change in leadership bring a change in team India's fortunes? We will soon find out as the 2nd Test starts on the Boxing Day i.e 26th of December 2020. That game begins at 1030 local (2330 GMT, Previous Day). Till then, enjoy your Christmas, stay safe, take care and cheers.

    • Virat Kohli, India skipper, says that it is hard to find words to express and to lose from a lead of 62 runs is something we did not expect. He further says that we did not take the morning session too well as they went hard at the ball. He further says that the Australian bowlers put them in situations where the edges were found but he says that there was nothing in the pitch which could be termed as drastic. Wishes his team for the remainder of the series and hopes that they come out stronger. On Mohammed Shami, he tells that right now he is going for a scan and then a decision would be made but mentions that he was in a lot of pain.

    • Tim Paine, Australia skipper, and is also named the Man of the Match, says that he just asked his bowlers that they have the ability to take quick wickets and they just go out and try and expoilt anything there on the surface. He further says that it is nice to get off to a good start but reckons that the first innings batting was poor. On Joe Burns he says that it feels good to have him back in the runs as that gives stability to the team.

    • India's second innings was just like a haunted nightmare where there were ruins. They lost Shaw once again cheaply on Day 2 and when they resumed their innings on the morning of Day 3 what unfolded was sheer hara-kiri. Pat Cummins started the down fall for India when he sent Jasprit Bumrah packing but then Hazlewood came in with lot of Josh ( steam) to topple India's best in business with his precision bowling. In the end, India folded up for a paltry 36 runs on board in their second essay with the bat. For Australia it was just three bowlers who did the job for them, Cummins and Starc began the day but the star with the ball was Josh Hazlewood who ripped apart the Indian batting with a 5-wicket haul, his 8th in the format and also went past 200 Test wickets.

    • Australia's first innings also was no different of India. They too lost their top order cheaply and barring Marnus Labuschagne's 47 and Tim Paine's 73 none of the batters got going as they folded for 191 runs, conceding a lead of 53 in the process. For India, Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the lot as he ended with a 4-fer. The next best was Umesh Yadav who had 3 wickets to his name and Bumrah managed to get a couple too. In the end, Australia chased the target of 90 runs with ease to take a lead of 1-0 in the 4-match Test series.

    • Earlier after winning the toss, India went onto post 244 runs in their first innings. The star with the bat then was Virat Kohli who stroked to a well compiled 74 before being run out. The others to contribute substantially were Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane who both contributed by scoring around 40 odd runs. Rest all the batters failed to get themselves in. On the Australian bowling, Starc was the pick of the bowlers as he ended with 4 wickets to his name. Cummins ended with 3 wickets as Hazlewood and Lyon ended with a wicket each. The debutant Cameron Green though went wicketless.

    • Chasing a target of 90 never looked to be a daunting one as the two Australian openers started their quest towards victory. Though Burns started watchfully but Wade was right into the 4th gear as he found the fence quite often. After the dinner break Burns too joined the party as the duo went onto score runs at will and in competition as well as in company of each other as they stitched a stand worth 70 runs. Though Wade departed followed by Marnus Labuschagne but Joe Burns kept his cool and hit the winning runs as well as brought up his fifty too. There was nothing in India's bowling in the second innings of Australia as they sprayed all around and were hit for runs. Also with less runs to defend and a bowler short they were under a lot of pressure. Only Ashwin got a wicket and was the one because of whom Wade was run out. All in all the day belonged to Australia.

    • A thumping win for Australia here in the first Border-Gavaskar Test. A complete performance from their bowlers and batsmen. A humiliating loss for India though who were just blown away in their second innings.

    • End of over 21 ( 11 Runs )AUS 93/2 50 runs for Joe Burns 20.6Umesh Yadav to Joe Burns. SIX, DROPPED AND SIX! • 17.2Ravichandran Ashwin to Matthew Wade. out, OUT! RUN OUT! Not the time to get out when you are in touching distance of a victory. Wade and Australia won't  be happy but India would still take it to boost their morale on the field. Prithvi Shaw there looks to take the evasive action but the ball hits his sheen guard and rolls to the stumps. Wriddhiman Saha there takes the ball and whips the bails off. He pleads to his skipper to take the review. Kohli after a thought signals 'T'.

    • Review Time! India have taken an LBW review against Joe Burns. The on field decision is not out. Let's see what the replays have to say. It is a fair delivery as Hot Spot comes on. Ohh! There is a faint spot there when the ball is near the bat. The on field call thus stays as India lose a review.

Nothing from the umpire though.

    • We are back for the second session of Day 3. The Indian players are out in the middle. Joe Burns and Matthew Wade will resume their innings. Jasprit Bumrah will start the proceedings for this session.

    • ... Day 3, Session 2 ...

    • Do join us for the second session which could well turn out to be the final one of this game as Australia need another 75 runs to win. Can they do it? Or will India spring up a surprise here? All answers coming up on the other side of the break.

    • In the short period what Australia got to bat in the 4th innings they have added 15 runs without losing a wicket as they chase 90 for a win in the first Test. The bowling so far has been wayward from Yadav though Bumrah has been good in patches. The loss of Shami with the ball would hurt India and it remains to be seen how India manage their bowling resources in this game with a bowler short.

    • Australia's bowling was just brilliant on the day. Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood were the three bowlers used by Australia in India's second innings. Cummins and Hazlewood wrecked havoc in the Indian camp as they shared 8 wickets between them. In the process, Cummins went past 150 Test wickets and Hazlewood went past 200 Test wickets. All in all a top class display of fast bowling from the Aussie duo as Starc played a perfect foil for them.

    • What an amazing session we have had. Test cricket lives upto its charm. Resuming on their overnight score of 7/1, India soon found themselves in deep waters when they were reduced to 15/5. None of the batsmen looked to adjust to the conditions as they kept on coming and going away. None of them managed to get to even double digits as Pujara and  Rahane went without scoring. Shami though got injured and helped India avoid the blushes of getting out for a paltry 36 in their second innings.

    • End of over 5 ( 0 Runs )AUS 15/0 maiden over bowled by Umesh Yadav 4.6Umesh Yadav to Joe Burns. no run, A mix up but nothing damaging. Length ball on off, Burns turns it to the leg side as Wade comes running down the track in search of a run. Burns though is not at all interested as he sends him back. The throw from the bowler hits the stumps at the bowler's end but nothing results. That will also be DINNNER ON DAY 3!

    • 4.5Umesh Yadav to Joe Burns. no run, Short and down the leg side, Burns ducks under it.

    • 4.4Umesh Yadav to Joe Burns. no run, Length ball on off, Burns keeps it out safely with the Dinner around the corner.

    • 4.2Umesh Yadav to Joe Burns. no run, Fuller and around off, Burns plays it back to the bowler off the front foot.

    • 4.1Umesh Yadav to Joe Burns. no run, Short and down the leg side. Wayward from Umesh as Burns lets it be.

    • End of over 4 ( 7 Runs )AUS 15/0 3.6Jasprit Bumrah to Matthew Wade. no run, On a length and around off, Wade blocks it out to see the over from Bumrah.

    • 3.5Jasprit Bumrah to Matthew Wade. FOUR, FOUR! NICELY DONE! Length ball on off, Wade just manages to open the bat and push the ball through the gap between third slip and point. The ball races to the fence at third man for a boundary.

    • 3.4Jasprit Bumrah to Matthew Wade. no run, Bumper down the leg side, Wade sits under it.

    • 3.3Jasprit Bumrah to Matthew Wade. 2 runs, A couple now! Handsomely driven but won't get a boundary here. Length and around off, Wade drives it through covers and scampers for a couple as the fielder does the mopping up act here.

    • 3.1Jasprit Bumrah to Joe Burns. leg byes, 1 run, Short length delivery targetting the shoulder of Burns. Joe tries to take the evasive action but is hit in the shoulders and the ball goes to the leg side. The batters take a single. A leg bye is what they get.
