COMMENTARY
Lahore Lions won by 16 runs | Dolphins Vs Lahore Lions T20 Match 14 Group A
More...
That ends a cracking game. Lahore have put pressure on both Chennai and Perth with this victory. On the other hand, Dolphins entertained the crowd with their action packed batting, and will look to do so one final time against Kolkata. The action continues with Chennai taking on Perth in another must encounter for both teams. Join us for all the action. For now, cheers and bye..
Akmal: 'Thanks to the almighty, thankful to the aptain who asked me to play my natural game. I am batting low down as I can hit the ball well during the end overs, and today it came off well. Thankful for the crowd, they supported as well. I will dedicate this award to my Mom, Dad and my wife.'
Umar Akmal is the MoM
Hafeez: 'Cricket is a beautiful game, expecially T20. Akmal and Nasim were outstanding, they gave us an excellent platform. We needed a batsman to stay out there, and Umar did. Everybody else chipped in with their bit. I knew we had a good spinning attack, and they did the job. They proved to be difficult to hit, I was waiting for the ball to reverse, so that I could bring in Riaz and he did a good job.'
van Wyk: 'It looked closer than it was really, but credit to Robbie for it. It would have been nice if there was a batsman to help him. We will learn from this experience. The batting was an issue, the bowling was OK, although we should have chased some 20 runs less. We want to show we can play good cricket, will look to do well against Kolkata. We can do much better, we will try and show the Dolphins brand of cricket. It has been a wonderful experience playing cricket in India, it is a wonderul country. It has been a good exposure for our guys, we can go back, work on our batting and do better in the future.
Great effort from the birthday boy but he was asked too much to do by his batsmen. Dolphins kept losing wickets in a heap as they slogged mindlessly at times. Mohammad Hafeez was excellent, both as a bowler as well as a captain, he realized that the ball was turning and employed all his spinners, front-liners and part-time options. There were no heroics from Delport, Chetty and Maharaj failed, and so did the middle order. van Wyk and Jonathan Vandier tried to fight it out, but the game looked all but over when the ninth wicket fell with the score at 93. Robert Frylinck entertained the crowd with some lusty blows, nearly brought his team close to a stunning upset, but was left to do too much.
End of over 20 ( 9 Runs )DOL 148/9 19.6Wahab Riaz to Prenelan Subrayen. no run, yorker length delivery and angling away, Subrayen swings and misses. Lahore win, Dolphins are out
19.5Wahab Riaz to Robert Frylinck. 1 run, yorker length delivery and just outside off, driven down to deep cover for a single
19.5Wahab Riaz to Robert Frylinck. wide, the slower bouncer from Riaz, ends up sending it way down leg-side, wide called
19.4Wahab Riaz to Robert Frylinck. no run, match over! On a good length and just outside off, Frylinck mistimes the drive back to the bowler
19.3Wahab Riaz to Robert Frylinck. SIX, they need 4 sixes to take this into the super over and Frylinck has got the first one away, poor ball from Riaz, full toss and well outside off, sliced away behind square on the off-side for a maximum
19.2Wahab Riaz to Prenelan Subrayen. byes, 1 run, yorker length delivery and just outside off, Subrayen looks to drive and misses. They run for the bye though, Akmal misses with Frylinck well short
19.1Wahab Riaz to Prenelan Subrayen. no run, fuller length delivery and just outside off, Subrayen makes room and misses the slog, he needs to get Frylinck back on strike
Wahab Riaz [3.0-0-23-1] is back into the attack
26 needed from the final over. Riaz will bowl it for Lahore
End of over 19 ( 5 Runs )DOL 139/9 18.6Mustafa Iqbal to Robert Frylinck. no run, Frylinck will not get back the strike for the next over, looks to pull a flat ball and misses
18.5Mustafa Iqbal to Robert Frylinck. no run, huge turn for Mustafa Iqbal, Frylinck looks to cut and misses
18.4Mustafa Iqbal to Robert Frylinck. FOUR, that was drilled powerfully! This was flatter and on the stumps, Frylinck makes room and hammers it back over the bowler's head, the fielder at long on gets across, stops the ball but it rolls away towards the rope
18.3Mustafa Iqbal to Robert Frylinck. no run, flighted delivery and well outside off, Frylinck goes inside out over extra cover. Hafeez does well to save four aruns as Frylinck refuses to run
18.2Mustafa Iqbal to Prenelan Subrayen. 1 run, nicely played by Subrayen, works a well tossed up ball towards long on for a single
