So that ends proceedings here. Join us back for another double-header tomorrow. Take care, goodbye!
Jadeja: 'I was backing myself. I was just thinking that it was not easy to time the ball at the start, you have to work hard for runs and I knew Mahi bhai was next to come in. It was just a matter of staying out there as we knew we could change the game in two overs. The wicket was pretty dry, so it was important that we rotated the strike. There was a bit of dew in the last 4-5 overs, but we used the towel to dry the ball and bowl in the right areas.'
Jadeja is the Man of the Match
Dhoni: 'I think we made a mistake, the way we started. I felt we were a bit too hard, but on a wicket like this it isn't easy. Mithun and Bravo got us back in the game with that partnership. I think Jadeja's knock was crucial. It was not easy to hit Hogg and at the end of the day, his knock was crucial. There have been quite a few areas we had to improve and I think we did well in those areas in this game, but we lacked in the batting. We need to adapt well. I think it was a fantastic bowling performance. It was a slow wicket and it was important that we didn't concede many runs in the first six overs.'
Ashwin: 'If you slow down there is a bit of purchase on the wicket. We capitalised in the later half of the innings, it's usually that way. Mahi and Jaddu usually capitalise on the 5 overs. He said he actually edged it(talking about Dhoni's monstrous hit). We had a small chat about it inside the dressing room. There is always scope for improvement.'
Voges: 'Those last three overs of their batting innings, I think Dhoni and Jadeja took the game away from us and we ended up chasing 20-30 more. Hoggy bowled beautifully, Beer did his job as well.'
Chennai have carried the momentum from the last few overs in their batting innings and have done well as a unit with the ball. Dhoni is a happy man and the players shake hands while going off the field. 156 was always a tricky total on this surface as it wasn't easy for stroke-play and Chennai took pace off the ball to make life difficult for Perth. Skipper Voges and Mitch Marsh steadied the ship for a while, but Ashwin (3 wickets) bowled well to hurt the Australian side. Coulter-Niler played a handy cameo but it wasn't good enough for Perth to get over the line.
End of over 20 ( 11 Runs )PRS 142/7 19.6Dwayne Bravo to Yasir Arafat. FOUR, full delivery outside off stump, crashed hard past extra-cover. Chennai stay alive in the tournament with this win, while Perth have been knocked out
19.5Dwayne Bravo to Yasir Arafat. 2 runs, another top-edge lands safely! Slower delivery outside off stump, Arafat slogs and gets lucky as it falls of Raina, who ran forward from deep mid-wicket
19.4Dwayne Bravo to Joel Paris. 1 run, slogs across this slower delivery and inside-edges it onto the pad
Three legitimate deliveries should be enough for Chennai now.
19.3Dwayne Bravo to Joel Paris. no run, slower delivery outside off stump, Joel Paris swings early and misses
19.2Dwayne Bravo to Joel Paris. 2 runs, in the air but safe! Slogs the slower delivery in the air, but drags it wide of long-on
Dwayne Bravo [2.0-0-23-0] is back into the attack
19.1Dwayne Bravo to Joel Paris. 2 runs, slower delivery outside off stump, Joel Paris steers it to third man and an overthrow allows them get another run. Dhoni is absolutely livid with the fielder
Joel Paris, left handed bat, comes to the crease
25 off the last over maybe just out of Perth's reach.
End of over 19 ( 8 Runs )PRS 131/7 18.6Mohit Sharma to Nathan Coulter-Nile. out Caught by Dwayne Bravo!! Coulter-Nile will be very disappointed that he's mis-hit this full toss. Not the best of deliveries but Mohit Sharma will take it. It could have been hit out of the park but Coulter-Nile finds Bravo at long-on. Coulter-Nile c Dwayne Bravo b Mohit Sharma 30(21) [4s-2 6s-1]
18.5Mohit Sharma to Yasir Arafat. 1 run, a fine yorker outside off stump, dug out square of the wicket on the off-side
18.4Mohit Sharma to Yasir Arafat. FOUR, timely hit! Knew that it was slower ball coming from Mohit Sharma, waited for it to arrive, went down on one knee meanwhile and slogged it hard to beat the man at deep mid-wicket
