Man of the Match: Shikhar Dhawan

India

Batting R B 4s 6s SR
Rohit Sharmac Jos Buttler b Ben Stokes 28 42 4 0 66.67
15.1
Ben Stokes to Rohit Sharma, OUT! CAUGHT! Super Stokes once again provides the breakthrough his side was looking for. We have seen this happen frequently so far in this tour. Does not matter what the format is, Stokes delivers and does the job for his side. Short and wide outside off, Stokes also rolls his fingers on this. Rohit has a wild slash at it. It catches the outside edge of Rohit's willow and goes straight to Buttler. He makes no mistake with the gloves on. The start has been thrown away and Stokes can consider himself lucky as this was a nothing delivery in all honesty. Nonetheless a wicket is what England needed and that is what they have got.
Shikhar Dhawanc Eoin Morgan b Ben Stokes 98 106 11 2 92.45
38.1
Ben Stokes to Shikhar Dhawan, OUT! CAUGHT! How unlucky is Shikhar Dhawan? He timed this shot perfectly but has also found the fielder to perfection. An inch or two to the right and this would have raced to the fence. End of a fabulous knock. Dhawan falls two short of his 18th ton but take nothing away from this fantastic innings. Back of a length delivery outside off, Dhawan pulls it with a short-arm jab. He times it well but ends up hitting it too close to short mid-wicket. Morgan there reacts quickly and takes a sharp catch low to his right. Stokes gets his second, both the Indian openers, and one can say both a tad lucky. Stokes is not complaining though.
Virat Kohli (C)c Moeen Ali b Mark Wood 56 60 6 0 93.33
32.1
Mark Wood to Virat Kohli, OUT! CAUGHT! Kohli departs and the wait for his 71st ton continues. 1 year 122 days and counting. End of a fantastic knock from the Indian skipper but he fails to convert this into a ton. Wood gets his first wicket, he has bowled superbly and deserves this. The 105-run stand is broken and Moeen Ali makes some amends for Dhawan's drop early on. Fullish ball on off and middle, Kohli looks to loft his flick over mid-wicket. He does not get enough blade on it and neither does he time it well. He finds the man in the deep to perfection and Moeen Ali there makes no mistake this time. Some respite for England and is this the wicket that sees the tourists pull things back in their favor?
Shreyas Iyerc sub Liam Livingstone b Mark Wood 6 9 1 0 66.67
34.5
Mark Wood to Shreyas Iyer, OUT! CAUGHT! Shreyas Iyer departs! Hard to understand why Shreyas Iyer went for a big shot after scoring a very good boundary in the second ball of this over. Very good catch by substitute, Liam Livingstone! Wood goes fuller on off, Shreyas looks to go over mid off but the ball comes quicker and it takes the outer half of Shreyas' bat as it turns in his hand. It goes towards cover. Substitute, Liam Livingstone comes running in from the deep, puts a slide and takes a very good catch.
KL Rahul (W)not out 62 43 4 4 144.19
Hardik Pandyac Jonny Bairstow b Ben Stokes 1 9 0 0 11.11
40.3
Ben Stokes to Hardik Pandya, OUT! CAUGHT! Another soft dismissal. Big wicket this as we all know how dangerous Hardik can be with the willow, especially in the death. Excellent field placement as well. One hardly sees slip during this stage of an ODI game but England kept it and it reaped the rewards. Good length ball very close to the off pole. Hardik looks to run it down away from the man at slip. Bairstow at first slip takes a very good catch. Third wicket for Stokes and he has once again showed why he is the darling of England cricket and backbone of this side.

Jason Royc sub Suryakumar Yadav b Prasidh Krishna 46 35 7 1 131.43
14.2
Prasidh Krishna to Jason Roy, OUT! CAUGHT! It popped out of substitute, Suryakumar Yadav's hand but he managed to take in the second attempt! Good length ball outside off, Roy looks to place it away from backward point but hits it uppishy and straight to the fielder there. Substitute, Suryakumar Yadav's initial attempt pops out of his hand but he manages to take it in the second attempt. Prasidh Krishna manages to break the opening stand and also gets his first victim in ODI. Another score in 40s from Roy and he departs. It has been a tale too familiar for Roy in the white ball leg of this tour.
Jonny Bairstowc Kuldeep Yadav b Shardul Thakur 94 66 6 7 142.42
22.1
Shardul Thakur to Jonny Bairstow, OUT! CAUGHT! Shardul Thakur gets his first of the game and it is the big fish, Jonny Bairstow. Just like Shikhar Dhawan, Jonny Bairstow also departs in the 90s. India are pulling this game back in contention now. End of a fantastic knock from the Yorkshire man! He though will not get his 11th ODI ton. The cross-seam delivery from Shardul Thakur does the job. He has the knack of taking wickets and lately he has been the one delivering wickets at critical junctures. Cross-seam delivery around off, Bairstow goes for the big pull but it hits the higher part of his bat. The ball goes high in the air and to the left of deep mid-wicket. Kuldeep Yadav there manages to take the catch. 149 needed in 167 balls. Game on!
Ben Stokesc sub Shubman Gill b Prasidh Krishna 1 11 0 0 9.09
16.2
Prasidh Krishna to Ben Stokes, OUT! CAUGHT! One brings two and India are not out of this game at all. The dangerous Ben Stokes departs for one and once again the debutant is in the action. He gets his second. Good length ball around of, the extra pace of Prasidh Krishan sees the ball come a fraction quicker than Stokes anticipated. He looks to drive but plays it uppishly straight to the man at short cover. Substitute, Shubman Gill is one of the safest fielder. He takes a sharp catch.
Eoin Morgan (C)c KL Rahul b Shardul Thakur 22 30 1 1 73.33
24.1
Shardul Thakur to Eoin Morgan, OUT! CAUGHT! Captain Morgan departs and India have their tails up and the momentum is clearly on their side. Morgan's disappointing tour with the bat continues. Shardul continues to be the man and the cult hero. His second of the game and this game is evenly poised now. Thakur bangs it short and we have seen Morgan struggle with the short ball lately. It is a well-directed bumper bowled at 143 kph. Morgan goes for the hook but gets a feather on it to the keeper. KL Rahul takes the catch.
Jos Buttler (W)lbw b Shardul Thakur 2 4 0 0 50
24.4
Shardul Thakur to Jos Buttler, OUT! LBW! Umpire's call on wicket's hitting and Buttler has to depart! Two massive wickets in the over for Shardul Thakur and India are well and truly on top of this game. Good length ball pitching on off and jagging in with the angle at pace. Buttler looks to flick but misses and gets hit on the pad. A huge appeal follows and the umpire raises his finger. Buttler decides to take the review. Replay rolls in and Ultra Edge finds no spike. Time for the Ball Tracker. It rolls in and it shows the pitching in fine, the impact is good too and the wicket is hitting on umpire's call. England do not lose their review but it is not good enough to keep Buttler out in the middle.
Sam Billingsc Virat Kohli b Prasidh Krishna 18 22 1 0 81.82
32.1
Prasidh Krishna to Sam Billings, OUT! CAUGHT! Prasidh Krishna comes back for his third spell and gets his third wicket. The budding stand has been broken and India get things back in their favor. Prasidh Krishna hits the deck hard around off, Billings has a push at it but the extra pace sees him push it uppishly. It goes to the right of the man at cover. Skipper, Virat Kohli there moves to that side and takes a good catch. 102 runs still needed.
Moeen Alic KL Rahul b Bhuvneshwar Kumar 30 37 2 1 81.08
37.1
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Moeen Ali, OUT! CAUGHT! Moeen departs and England are now 7 down. Huge wicket as Moeen was set and the leader of this bowling attack gives his skipper the wicket he wanted. Excellent bowling from Bhuvi. He bowls the teasing line outside off. The length is good as well. Moeen looks to run it down to third man but the ball moves away a bit. Good enough to catch the outside edge of Moeen's willow and go straight into the mitts of KL Rahul. 78 still needed in 80 balls.
Sam Curranc sub Shubman Gill b Krunal Pandya 12 20 1 0 60
38.1
Krunal Pandya to Sam Curran, OUT! CAUGHT! Krunal gets his first wicket in ODIs in his final over of the innings. The wheels have completely fallen off this chase. A timid and poor performance from the English middle order. Floated delivery on middle, Sam comes down the track and looks to go downtown. He mistimes his shot and it falls ahead of long off. Substitute, Shubman Gill comes running in from the deep and takes a good catch.
Tom Curranc Bhuvneshwar Kumar b Prasidh Krishna 11 16 1 0 68.75
42.1
Prasidh Krishna to Tom Curran, OUT! CAUGHT! Prasidh Krishna finishes the match with 4 wickets! Full on off, Curran looks to go big but gets a top edge. It goes towards third man where Bhuvneshwar Kumar runs and takes a good catch. INDIA WIN BY 66 RUNS!
Adil Rashidc KL Rahul b Bhuvneshwar Kumar 0 5 0 0 0
39.2
Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Adil Rashid, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Kumar gets his second wicket! Good length delivery outside off, Rashid looks to defend but gets an outside edge. It goes towards the keeper where Rahul takes a comfortable catch.
