South Africa vs England, 2015-16

England will be touring South Africa for four Tests, five One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), starting December 26. While the first Test of the tour begins on Boxing Day at Kingsmead, Durban, England will be playing as many as four tour matches before the first international fixtures of their tour get underway. Two out of these four tour matches will be before the Test series, whereas one each game in 50-overs and T20 format will be played before the start of the respective fixtures. The Test series between England and South Africa is named Basil D’Oliveira Trophy, which is currently in possession of the hosts as they had won the last time when the two teams clashed in 2012.

England will face a massive challenge to beat South Africa in their own backyard, as far as Test cricket is concerned. The last time when England won in South Africa was in 2004-05, and since then South Africa has won the Basil D’Oliveira Trophy twice while the series was once drawn in 2009-10.

South Africa defeated England in 2012 in their backyard, as they won the three-Test series 2-0. However, the home side cannot be termed favourites presently, as they are coming off a 0-3 mauling against a rampant India. England too, are coming off a series defeat in the UAE against Pakistan.

The tour consists of five ODIs, with the first to be played at Bloemfontein on February 3, second at Port Elizabeth on February 6, third at Centurion on February 9, fourth at Johannesburg on February 12 and the fifth and final at Cape Town on February 14. The two T20Is will be played at Cape Town and Johannesburg on February 19 and 21 respectively.
