India have been bowled out for just 109 runs! They would be disappointed with their batting effort here. The pitch was tough to bat on as it was spinning a lot, but some of the shots from Indian batters were also not upto the mark. They weren't able to build any sort of partnerships in the middle. The contributions from Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and a few lusty blows from Umesh Yadav in the end took them over the 100-run mark. However, they would have seen the pitch and with the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in their side, they would surely make batting hard for Australia.

This session belonged to the visitors as India find themselves in a situation of bother with seven wickets down for just 84 runs! The hosts started off well for the first five overs but ever since spin was introduced in the 6th over it has all been Australia. The spinners got into the attack and frame of schemes really quick and shifted the momentum right in favor of the visitors. Wickets kept falling on regular intervals and India has been pinned back by the mighty Aussies. Steven Smith, the stand-in captain of Australia says that the pitch looks a bit dry and it is no surprise that Rohit Sharma elected to bat first. Adds that they will need to execute their plans better in this game and put the Indian batters under pressure. Tells that they had time to rest and reflect and they will need to stick to the basics which they did not do in the second innings in the last Test match. Says that Pat Cummins has gone back home due his mother's illness and thoughts are with him. Informs they have made two changes as Cameron Green and Mitchell Starc comes in for David Warner and Pat Cummins respectively.

Rohit Sharma, the skipper of India says the morale of the team is really high. The team has played a lot of cricket but it is a bit different here. He also adds that it is important for everyone to stay focused and do well in every game. On changes in the squad, he says that Shubman Gill will replace KL Rahul and Umesh Yadav comes in for Mohammad Shami.

The Indians ran riots this morning and picked up wickets in a cluster as they managed to scalp 6 wickets giving away just 41 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin and Umesh Yadav stepped up well and managed to break through the lower middle order and the tail in a quick-fire manner. India now trails by 88 runs and they would be looking to get past this without any hiccups, Let us see how the Indian team responds as they will be out in the middle soon with their Second innnings.

We are done with the Australian first innings as they have been bundled out on 197. The Aussies batted well on a track that had a lot on offer for the bowlers and with the quality that India possesses it was a resilient batting display by the mighty Aussies to score hefty. Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne batted really well earlier and brought the team closer to the first-inning score of the hosts. A good cameo from Steven Smith helped the Aussies to score quickly in the last session on Day 1 and might well prove critical in a low-scoring game. Cameron Green and Peter Handscomb continued where they left off on Day 2 and were looking good in the first half of the first session, but once Peter Handscomb was dismissed, we saw another collapse as they lost six wickets for just 11 runs. However, they have a lead of 88 runs which looks like a good one on this wicket. Their bowlers will hope to put on another good show and put pressure on the hosts.

The splendid bowling of Matthew Kuhnemann and co. saw the visitors bundle out India for cheap and the brilliance of Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne made sure that they put India under further pressure with a good lead. Just like yesterday, the first hour would be really crucial as with moisture on the surface the hosts would be looking to exploit the condition to the fullest.

Usman Khawaja is up for a quick chat. He says, he is not sure what different he did from others and just played every delivery on its merit and it was really good for him to have a partnership of significance with Marnus Labuschagne. Adds that it was really a spin-friendly wicket and early on with the moisture around the track it spun a lot. Tells that he believes in playing the sweep shot and has no guilt on getting out to it as this is his go-to stroke and another arsenal in his rapiture.

Australia, on the other hand, dominated proceedings right from the start. Mitchell Starc had Rohit Sharma out twice in the very first over, but Australia did not review any of those and gave a couple of lives to Rohit Sharma. Once, Matthew Kuhnemann came into the attack, they got the grip of the pitch as well as the game. They did not let the Indian batters settle in and continued to pick up wickets. They reduced India to 84/7 in the first session and then bowled them out early in the second session. Kuhnemann registered his maiden five-wicket haul in Tests while Nathan Lyon picked up three scalps and Todd Murphy contributed with one. After coming out to bat, they lost Travis Head very early, but did not lose their heads. Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne built a crucial 96-run stand. The latter was dismissed when he was batting at zero, but was saved as Jadeja overstepped. However, both of them got out in quick succession after taking the lead. Steven Smith then came in and played a few lusty blows before falling to a beauty of a delivery from Jadeja. Cameron Green and Peter Handscomb held till the end and will continue for them on Day 2 when they come out to bat and try to extend their lead and take the game far away from India.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, India got off to a steady start with Shubman Gill scoring runs quickly, but once their skipper, Rohit Sharma got dismissed for an unnecessary shot, it went  downhill for them. Virat Kohli and Srikar Bharat tried to do the repair job, but could not stay there for long. They were ultimately bowled out for just 109 runs. This wicket is not easy to bat as spinners were getting a lot of help, but they could have got some more runs on the board. When they came out to bowl, they picked up an early wicket, but then struggled for a while and allowed Australia to build a big stand before Tea. They created some half-chances, but were not able to hold on and Jadeja also had Labuschagne out bowled, but it turned out to be a No Ball which has been a problem for him in this series. However they changed their lengths in the third session, and once Ravindra Jadeja got rid of Marnus Labuschagne, they restricted the run flow and it was Jadeja who ended up with all four wickets that fell for Australia. They will be hoping to get through this batting line-up as soon as possible and not let them take a significant lead.

That will be Stumps on Day 1! An excellent Day for Australia comes to an end. They lead by 47 runs and have six wickets in hand. A total of 265 runs were scored and 14 wickets fell. However, Aussies have outplayed the Indians in all three sessions and that is why they are well ahead in the match at the moment.

Another good session for Australia! They are still ahead in this game as they trail by 38 runs, but still have nine wickets in hand. They started the session well by getting rid of the tail of India relatively quickly with Matthew Kuhnemann finishing with a five-for. Then they came out to bat with a positive intent, but lost Travis Head early on. A few moments later, Marnus Labuschagne was also dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja, but was saved by a No Ball. After that, he and Usman Khawaja built a good partnership of 59 runs and batted sensibly, rotating the strike well. These two will look to reduce the lead further when they come out to bat in the third session. India, on the other hand, has gone with their spinners to attack, and they have troubled the batters here and there, but they haven't gotten the rewards as expected as only Jadeja picked up a wicket.
