    COMMENTARY

Right then, that is it from the game. The rain gods interrupt and the game ends with a tie. India have won the series by 1-0 and skipper Hardik Pandya picks up the T20I series trophy. We will be back with more cricketing action as both sides will face each other in a three-match ODI series starting on 25th November at 7.00 am IST (1.30 am GMT). Do join us early for the build-up as well. Till then, take care and goodbye.
India's captain, Hardik Pandya says that they would have liked to win the game but it is how it is, and is happy. Adds that he felt that offense is the defense on this wicket and the opposition had bowlers with great skills so he wanted to put them under pressure. Says that a game like this would have been a good test for their middle order but it wasn't meant to be. Ends by saying that he will now fly home, relax and watch the upcoming ODI series.
Tim Southee, the skipper of New Zealand says that it was a disappointing display with the bat and they had a talk about taking some early wickets in the game. Adds that they knew if they could take some early wickets anything could happen but unfortunately the weather came in. Further says that if both sides would have batted it would have been an interesting game. Ends by saying that they did well overall in this game under pressure and it would be nice to play some ODI cricket against a quality side like India.
Suryakumar Yadav is the Player of the Series for his scintillating batting display. He says that he is really happy with how things went and would have loved to have a full game here but it happens. Adds that the pressure is always there and he enjoys batting under pressure and looked to just express himself out in the middle. Mentions that the intent and approach will remain the same in the ODIs as well. Says that all they can do is go out and play fearlessly but the weather isn't under their control.
Mohammed Siraj (4-0-17-4) is the Player of the Match. He says that the pitch was not easy as he was prepared to bowl the hard lengths. Adds that he executed his plan well and kept it simple. Further says that he kept on bowling the hard lengths and it went well. Ends by saying that the weather is not in their hands but he is happy with the series win.
    The presentation ceremony...
After opting to bat first, New Zealand had a mixed Powerplay with some good shots and a few wickets falling as well. Then came a big partnership between Glenn Phillips and Devon Conway with both batters taking on the Indian bowlers at will. It looked like the Kiwis would post a score in excess of 180 runs but then came the comeback by the Indian pacers. It was Mohammed Siraj who broke the stand and then he and Arshdeep Singh just ripped through the line-up. New Zealand managed to get to a par score and did bowl well during the chase. With the game hanging on a knife's edge, the rain played spoilsport and remarkably India ended up matching the DLS par score, making it a tie to end the T20I series.
India ended well with the ball and had a bit of momentum coming into the chase. Both Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant played attacking shots but after a couple of good shots, both of them fell cheaply. Shreyas Iyer fell first ball but then came the counter-attack from Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya. Just when things looked under control, SKY was dismissed and the scoring rate decreased. On the last delivery of the 9th over, a misfield from Mitchell Santner allowed Deepak Hooda a single that Pandya wasn't even keen on taking. That single turned out to be the run that sealed the series for India.
New Zealand needed early wickets and they got just that inside the Powerplay as stand-in skipper Tim Southee went bang, bang with the ball. There were however a couple of costly overs which kept the visitors close to the DLS par score. After the Powerplay, the Kiwi bowlers found it difficult to curtail the runs but once Ish Sodhi got rid of Suryakumar Yadav, New Zealand had new hope. In the end, it wasn't enough and the hosts were undone by the rain.
The umpires have a look and the inevitable has happened! The game has been called off due to the rain and this match will end as a tie. As a result, India win the three-match T20I series 1-0. The Kiwi players look dejected and in a game of fine margins, a slight fumble on the final delivery before the play stopped for the last time has cost them levelling the series.
UPDATE 3.47 pm IST (10.17 am GMT) - It has stopped raining now. The umpires are out in the middle to inspect the outfield. Stay tuned for further updates.
UPDATE 3.23 pm IST (9.53 am GMT) - Oh, no! The rain is back and the groundstaff is rushing to the middle as the players go off. The DLS par score is 75 and India are on par with it and if there is no further play, it will be a tie. The rain is pretty strong at the moment. Stick around for further updates.

    COMMENTARY

    End of over

    NZ160 (19.4 Ovs)

We are back for the chase. New Zealand players have made their way out in the middle. Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant will open with their blades for India. Tim Southee comes to bowl. Here we go.
    ... The Run Chase ...
Right then, India will look to chase this total and win the series whilst the hosts will look to bag some early wickets and level the series. Which team will get over the line? Let's find out. Chase coming shortly…
India bowled exceedingly well in the first ten overs and as a result, New Zealand could only manage 74 runs at the halfway mark. They managed to get quick wickets after the dismissal of Phillips and Conway. The phase in between that went on was a bit expensive for India but they will be certainly happy with the way they have bowled and how the things ended. Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj were the stars of the show as they bagged four wickets each while Harshal Patel took one. Now the onus is on the Indian batters to chase down a total of 161.
New Zealand were off to a shaky start and lost Finn Allen in the second over. Conway and Chapman balanced off things after that for a bit, but the hosts lost Chapman just before the Powerplay. Conway stayed firm and Phillips joined him. They stitched a partnership really well and saved the sinking ship for New Zealand. Both of them went on to score a half-century and made sure they go on to reach a competitive total. After the dismissal of Phillips-Conway, wickets kept on tumbling for them and there was no way around it for the hosts and they were bowled out for 160.
    19.4
Harshal Patel to Tim Southee, out, OUT! BOWLED! Harshal Patel goes full and straight and gets it full enough on off stump. Tim Southee stays deep in his crease and backs away as he looks to go across the line. The ball is too good for him and takes a bit of an inside edge before smashing into the stumps. Patel picks up a late wicket and New Zealand have been bowled out for 160.
    19.3
Harshal Patel to Lockie Ferguson, 3 runs, Length ball, on middle and leg, Lockie Ferguson stays put and lofts it over mid on. The ball plugs in the outfield and the batters do come back for the third as well.
    19.2
Harshal Patel to Lockie Ferguson, no run, A bumper now around off stump, Lockie Ferguson looks to take it on but decides against it and sways out of the way of the delivery.
    19.1
Harshal Patel to Lockie Ferguson, 2 runs, Full and on leg stump, Lockie Ferguson chips it towards deep square leg and the batters manage to scamper back for the second.
    18.6
Arshdeep Singh to Tim Southee, FOUR, FOUR! Nicely done. Around off again, Tim Southee waits for it and just guides it fine, the ball races away into the third man fence.
    18.5
Arshdeep Singh to Tim Southee, no run, Full and around off, kept out on the off side.
    18.4
Arshdeep Singh to Tim Southee, 2 runs, Very full and on leg stump, Tim Southee walks across his stumps and flicks it towards deep square leg for a couple of runs.
Lockie Ferguson is the next batter.
    18.3
Arshdeep Singh to Tim Southee, out, OUT! RUN OUT! No hat-trick for Arshdeep Singh but it is certainly a team hat-trick for India. Singh yet again nails the yorker around off but Tim Southee does manage to squeeze it out towards backward point. The batters go for the single but decide aaginst it. Mohammed Siraj picks up the ball and scores as direct hit at the bowler's end. The replays show that Adam Milne who was trying to get back, is short of his crease and New Zealand lose yet another wicket.
    Tim Southee walks in.
    18.2
Arshdeep Singh to Ish Sodhi, out, OUT! TIMBER! Two in two for Arshdeep Singh and what a delivery that is! Singh stays around the wicket to Ish Sodhi and delivers the perfect yorker on middle stump. Sodhi backs away a bit as he looks to keep it out but the ball just sneaks under his willow. The ball crashes into middle stump and Singh will now be on a hat-trick.
    Ish Sodhi walks in.
    18.1
Arshdeep Singh to Daryl Mitchell, out, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! The wickets keep on falling like nine pins here and all of a sudden, New Zealand are seven down. Arshdeep Singh comes from 'round the wicket to the right-hander and bowls a brilliant short ball angling it onto the body. The ball goes down the leg side but Daryl Mitchell gets a slight nick on it as he looks to hook it away. Rishabh Pant springs to his left and takes yet another fine catch. Singh gets his third wicket now.
    17.6
Mohammed Siraj to Adam Milne, no run, Short ball, over middle and Adam Milne just ducks under it.
Adam Milne is the new batter.
    17.5
Mohammed Siraj to Mitchell Santner, out, OUT! CAUGHT! Mohammed Siraj on fire out there as New Zealand digging a real hole for themselves. Siraj hits the length hard and keeps it wide of the off pole. Mitchell Santner hangs deep and tries to loft it over extra cover. Santner cannot keep his shape and ends up just chipping it around the cover region where Yuzvendra Chahal takes a simple catch. A fourthe wicket then for Siraj and New Zealand struggling now.
    17.4
Mohammed Siraj to Mitchell Santner, no run, Good change of pace now. Good length, slanted across the left-hander and Mitchell Santner is way too early in his cut shot.
    17.3
Mohammed Siraj to Daryl Mitchell, 1 run, Very full and around off, Daryl Mitchell punches it down to long on and picks up a run.
    17.2
Mohammed Siraj to Mitchell Santner, 1 run, Good length, around off, this is played towards covers for a quick single.

Hopefully, it is a short delay. Stay tuned for further updates. And, just after a few minutes, the covers come off again. Looks like it is going to be a stop-start kind of day. The game should start soon, so stick around.
Hardik Pandya, the skipper of India, says they wanted to bowl anyway so they got what they wanted. Adds that the pitch will remain the same throughout the game and there is some grass so they will have to exploit it. Further says that with the skillset of their batters they will do good and they know their job well. Ends by saying that Harshal Patel comes in for Washington Sundar.
Tim Southee, the skipper of New Zealand, says that they will bat first and it looks like a pretty good wicket and they will look to defend. Adds that they can't control the weather and putting runs on the board is always good. Mentions that apart from Yadav's innings, their bowlers did a pretty decent job. Informs that it's a straight swap as Mark Chapman comes in for Kane Williamson. Ends by saying that they will look to improve in this game.

    NZ160 (19.4 Ovs)
