He realises that he is losing his balance and pops the ball in the air and then takes it cleanly by staying inside the ground. The third umpire is called in, and after checking it from different angles, he is convinced that it is a fair catch. Both English openers are gone in the same over.

Gurnoor Brar to Jacob Bethell, OUT! TAKEN IN THE DEEP! Change of ends works for Gurnoor Brar, and he strikes the first blow. He bangs this into the pitch, on off, gets some extra lift off the deck. Jacob Bethell stands tall and looks to pull it away but the ball hits him high on the bat. It flies flat and towards deep square leg, where Washington Sundar is standing quite a few yards ahead of the ropes. He moves forward and to his left quickly and with the ball dying on him, he puts in a dive to take a fantastic catch just inches above the ground. End of the 61-run opening stand.

Jasprit Bumrah to Harry Brook, OUT! EDGED AND GONE! This is exactly why Jasprit Bumrah was called back into the attack. He gets rid of the English skipper, and England are in a spot of bother now. 150th ODI wicket for Bumrah. He steams in from over the wicket, lands this back of a length and in the channel outside off, gets it to angle in but then straightens off the deck with extra bounce. Harry Brook stays back and tries to run it down to third man with an angled bat but only manages to get a thin outside edge to first slip, where Rohit Sharma takes a sharp catch. 3 wickets in the last 7 balls, and this has been a roaring fightback from India.

Prasidh Krishna to Jos Buttler, OUT! IN THE AIR...GONE! A bit of a mess, but India get away with it. Prasidh Krishna gets the big fish on his return to the attack. He goes fuller in length and on middle, holds up in the surface. Jos Buttler looks to whip it across the line but closes his bat face early. He gets a leading edge as the ball goes high in the air behind the bowler. Gurnoor Brar from mid on runs to his left and Shubman Gill also converges from mid off. There is no proper calling, but Brar manages to hold on to it despite colliding with his skipper. Not the way Buttler would have hoped for his 200th ODI to go, as he falls cheaply. England are 80/4 now.

Prasidh Krishna to Sam Curran, OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Prasidh Krishna with the double-strike now. He goes fuller and wider outside off, tempting the batter. Sam Curran stays in his crease and just throws his bat at it. A nothing shot really, especially when you're this new at the crease. He only manages to nick it behind, where the keeper, KL Rahul, takes a good catch, moving to his left. It's going from bad to worse for the hosts here.

Shivam Dube to Will Jacks, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! A stunning one-handed grab by KL Rahul. Shivam Dube breaks through just as this English pair was starting to settle in. Angled in before nipping away off the seam, on a back of a length, in line with the off stump. Jacks hangs back to deal with it but is squared up by the seam movement. The ball takes an outside edge and goes low to the keeper's right. Rahul's body weight is on his left leg but he dives quickly to his right to snaffle it with his right glove.

Axar Patel to Liam Dawson, OUT! CAUGHT! Liam Dawson will be mighty disappointed as this was there to be put away but he has picked out the fielder in the deep. Dragged down by Axar, this is slower through and angling in at the hips. Dawson hops back to unleash the pull but the ball comes on slower than he expected. As a result, he does not quite get the timing right on the pull. Hits it flat to deep backward square leg, where Rohit Sharma comes in off the ropes and gets on a knee to take a safe catch. End of a fine knock by Dawson.

Axar Patel to Jofra Archer, OUT! CAUGHT! Axar Patel has the last laugh here. He goes short again but pushes it through quicker, on leg. Jofra Archer once again moves back to pull it away but gets a bit cramped up to free his arms fully. He does not get the timing right as the ball flies straight towards deep mid-wicket, where Washington Sundar pouches it safely. England are 250/8.

Axar Patel to Adil Rashid, OUT! STUMPED! Axar Patel gets his third wicket now. He anticipates the batter coming down the track and bowls this flatter, full and on middle and leg. Adil Rashid steps out of his crease to work it across the line, but the ball goes past the inside edge, behind, where KL Rahul does the rest. Root is stranded at the other end, and England are 258/9 now.

Axar Patel to Josh Tongue, OUT! BOWLED'EM! Axar Patel wraps things up with a four-fer. England have been bowled out for 258. This is the arm ball, full and on middle, angles in. Josh Tongue lunges out to push it away but plays completely down the wrong line as the ball sneaks in the gap between bat and pad to crash into the stumps. 

Sam Curran to Rohit Sharma, OUT! TAKEN! Sam Curran draws first blood in his first over. He sticks to the fuller length, on middle, and angles it away a bit. Rohit Sharma charges down the track to loft it over mid on but his bat turns in his hands, and he ends up slicing it. It goes in the air towards mid off, where Harry Brook moves to his left and takes an easy catch. India are 43/1, chasing 259 runs.

Jofra Archer to Virat Kohli, OUT! LBW! Jofra Archer gets the big fish and it's the end of Ro-Ko for this game. This is a full delivery, on middle, shaping in too. Virat Kohli is not expecting that length, and his head falls over to the off side as he tries to clip it across the line. He gets rapped on the pads right in front of the stumps. There is a big shout for LBW, and up goes the finger. It looks plumb, and Kohli, after having a chat with Gill, decides to walk away. India are 48/2 now.

Jofra Archer to Washington Sundar, OUT! SHREYAS IYER IS RUN OUT! Jofra Archer goes fuller and on middle, Washington Sundar knocks it towards mid on and sets off for the single. Shreyas Iyer responds, but he does not anticipate the throw coming at his end. He is caught ball-watching and also takes the long route around to avoid being hit by the ball. Harry Brook is quick to pick up the ball and scores a direct hit at the batter's end. Iyer is a bit late to slide his bat inside, and the replay confirms that he is short of his crease. Well, the English players were already celebrating even before it went upstairs. 

Josh Tongue to KL Rahul, OUT! DRAGGED ON! One brings two for England. Maiden ODI wicket for Josh Tongue. He hits the deck hard and just around off, gets some extra lift off the deck. KL Rahul stays deep inside his crease and tries to punch it away from his body. He only manages to get an inside edge and the ball crashes back onto the stumps. India are 160/4, still needing 99 runs in 133 balls.
