Last Wicket: Deepak Hooda c Kagiso Rabada b Sandeep Lamichhane 10 (11) - 111/5 in 15.6 Over
We're done with this one. Indian T20 League action continues on Friday, as Bangalore welcome Kolkata to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The action begins at 2000 local (1430 GMT). Do join in for that one. Cheers!
Man of the Match, Jonny Bairstow, says the surface had less bounce than in Hyderabad, so is glad they won the toss. Adds that it's the first time he's played on such a track since the season began. States that he kept an eye out on things when they were bowling, which helped him assess the conditions well. Reckons that it's good that they've won three games on the bounce, and they have a good group of players, so is looking forward to the coming matches.
Hyderabad skipper, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, says he doesn't find captaincy easy, but is trying to do his best. Admits that he wasn't sure how the wicket would play, so was happy he won the toss and got a chance to assess the conditions. Mentions that he didn't think the wicket would be so slow. States that the wickets will be slower in the second half of the tournament, so will base their team combination on that. On Kane Williamson, he says that he's close to being fully fit, but they don't want to rush him.
Rashid Khan, who is up for a chat now, says it has been wonderful till now. Mentions that it was a team effort from them. Credits the way Jonny Bairstow played at the start and also acknowledges the effort by the bowlers for the way they bowled. States that the wicket looked like a 140-150 one and they did really well to restrict them to the score they did. Ends by saying that he did get nervous towards the end and he feared a collapse but he is happy that did not happen.
Delhi skipper, Shreyas Iyer, says it was a difficult game and losing the toss also did not help. Admits that they did not play well as a batting unit but they should learn from this game and come out with a positive mindset in the next one. Mentions that 140 was the score he was looking for but they lost too many wickets early on and he did not get a lot of support. Appreciates the character shown by his team to pull the game back with the ball in the middle overs but unfortunately, they could not come out on top.
Delhi needed more wickets and that too quickly. The fact that they conceded as much as 62 runs in the Powerplay in itself proved to be a body blow to them. They came back well in the middle overs, recovering to a decent extent, but it wasn't enough. Barring Morris, everyone who bowled bagged a wicket each. Had Axar Patel grabbed on to that caught and bowled chance in the second over of the chase, things would certainly have been much more interesting. Earlier in the evening, Delhi posted 130 on the board, courtesy Iyer's anchoring knock and Axar's late flurry, but it didn't prove to be enough.
A comfortable win for the visitors in the end. They grab their third win of the season and go top of the table. The total was a moderate one, but the surface was always tricky. Though, Jonny Bairstow's fiery start put everything to bed. That set it up for the rest to come and made it easier for the batsmen to do their jobs. Some wickets fell at regular intervals, but Nabi came in and added the finishing touches to get his side over the line.
18.3
Kagiso Rabada to Mohammad Nabi, SIX, SIX! And Mohammad Nabi finishes it off in style! What a hit from the al-rounder, this is marvellous batting. Rabada bowls it very full and on middle. Warner clears his front leg and looks to go over mid off. Since it is too full, he fails to get under it and hence does not get the elevation. Rahul Tewatia to Jonny Bairstow, out, OUT! Well... this is interesting. No bat involved at all. Jonny Bairstow is gone. Strange, with how quickly he signalled the 'T', it appeared that there would be some bat involved. Anyway, Tewatia strikes and breaks this partnership. And he's got the dangerous Bairstow too. Quite full on middle and leg, the Englishman looks to flick it away but fails to make connection. He's caught on the front pad, a loud appeal goes up and so does the finger. Jonny takes the review, it goes upstairs and replays show he's gone for all money. He's done his job though, provided a start nobody expected on this kind of surface.

2.5
Sandeep Lamichhane to David Warner, no run, Not out! A poor review indeed. Lamichhane's too excited, Pant is a jittery character, Iyer isn't left with much choice. They might have needed that review later in the innings. It's flighted outside leg, the googly, it turns towards off a bit. Warner looks to work it on the leg side but is caught on the pads. Loud appeal goes up but the umpire rightly denies it. Sandeep is adamant he's got his man, Iyer as a result takes the DRS. Replays don't seem favourable for the hosts. They lose their only review.
Review taken. It's for an lbw decision against David Warner. It looks to be pitching outside leg. Going to be a poor review, this...

Some medical attention required for Axar. He got hit hard on the hands, must be stinging.
1.2
Axar Patel to Jonny Bairstow, no run, DROPPED! That was hit hard straight back but Axar drops it. He gives some flight to this one, Bairstow dances down the track and hits it straight back from where it came. Axar there gets both his hands on the ball but the ball bounces out of his hands and rolls behind him. Axar turns back to take it on a second attempt but is not able to gather it. Had he taken it, it would have been a big blow to Hyderabad and Delhi could have had an opening.
