    • That's it from us for the day. Tomorrow we have a Super Saturday and so there is a doubleheader. The first clash is between Bangalore and Gujarat and the second encounter is between Kolkata and Pune. Do join us for all the updates. Till then, it's goodbye from us.

    • MAN OF THE MATCH, MARCUS STOINIS says that he was just looking to bowl straight and trying some variations with change of pace. Credits his team for doing well in both the departments. Adds that it's a team game and all supported him very well. Continues to say that he is enjoying to play for the first time in the Indian T20 League. Ends by saying that he is getting good support from his team and coaching staff.

    • MURALI VIJAY says that they didn't start well in this contest but is happy now. Adds that they are playing as a team and credits his team for playing fantastic tonight. Further says that he though that the pitch will be slow in the second half but it didn't happened as they enjoyed batting here. Agrees that 140 is a good total for the team batting first. Ends by saying that they will try hard to win matches and hopefully they do well.

    • ROHIT SHARMA thinks they didn't execute their plan well tonight. The wicket was sticky and the ball was not coming onto the bat. He knew that putting 125 on the board is not a defendable total. Credits Punjab bowlers for doing well to restrict them to a low total. Further says, they are used to this pitch and now they have idea that 145-150 is a decent score to defend as the pitch is slow. Continues to say that he don't want to put pressure on his mates. Ends by saying that they need to bounce back and hopes that they win their next game.

    • This loss will hurt the defending champions. It has also hurt their net run rate and things are not looking very promising for them in the points table. Punjab, on the other hand, have kept their hopes alive, however, it's very little.

    • Earlier in the day, it was a professional bowling show by the visiting side. They started well up front and didn't allow Mumbai off the hook. The wickets kept tumbling and the visitors managed to pick wickets at regular intervals. Marcus Stoinis was the pick of the bowlers, claiming a 4-fer and he was nicely assisted by his fellow bowlers.

    • Clinical win for Punjab! Chasing 125, they lost Amla cheaply but after that the pair of Vijay and Saha didn't put a foot wrong and formed a 116-run stand to seal the deal for Punjab. Mumbai bowled decently but that was not enough to defend a very low total.

    • End of over 17 ( 8 Runs )KXIP 127/3 16.6Tim Southee to Gurkeerat Singh Mann. FOUR, Gurkeerat Singh Mann finishes in style! Full length ball on middle and off, Singh gets the opportunity and lofts it high straight down the ground for a boundary. PUNJAB WIN BY 7 WICKETS!

    • 16.5Tim Southee to Gurkeerat Singh Mann. no run, Full length ball on off, Singh plays it back to the bowler.

    • 16.4Tim Southee to Murali Vijay. 1 run, Short of a length ball on off, Vijay pulls it to mid-wicket for a single.

    • 16.3Tim Southee to Murali Vijay. no run, Tad short on middle and leg, Vijay leaves it alone.

    • 16.2Tim Southee to Murali Vijay. 2 runs, Good length ball on off, Vijay slaps it through point for a brace.

    • 16.1Tim Southee to Gurkeerat Singh Mann. 1 run, Length ball on leg, Vijay flicks it to fine leg for a single.

    • Southee is back.

    • End of over 16 ( 9 Runs )KXIP 119/3 15.6Mitchell Mcclenaghan to Gurkeerat Singh Mann. 1 run, Tucks it off his pads to the leg side for a single.

    • Gurkeerat Singh Mann is the next batsman.

    • 3 wickets down for KXIP. Out batsman is Glenn Maxwell 15.5Mitchell Mcclenaghan to Glenn Maxwell. out, OUT! Soft dismissal! McClenaghan arrows in a fuller length ball on middle, Maxwell makes space it go over mid on but fails to get the desired elevation. Pollard takes the simplest of catches inside the ring.

    • 3 wickets down for KXIP. Out batsman is Glenn Maxwell 15.5Mitchell Mcclenaghan to Glenn Maxwell. wide, 1 run, Wide! Sliding down the leg side, Maxwell fails to flick and there is some sound as it goes past him. They appeal for a catch but the umpire signals a wide. Hmm... the replays show that it brushed his pads.

    • Glenn Maxwell is the new batsman.

    • Strategic break.

Match 43 of Indian Premier League 2016 will witness Mumbai Indians take on Kings XI Punjab at Wankhede stadium, Mumbai. MI, who are captained by Rohit Sharma, have won the IPL twice, in 2013 and 2015. With both Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings (suspended) having won two IPL titles, MI would like to win this year and become the most successful team outright. Their opponents KXI have struggled for consistency all these years.

Finishing 3rd in the inaugural season, they have only managed to get past the group stages once since, finishing runners up in 2014. They will be led by a new skipper in David Miller, who will hope to guide his side to a first IPL title.

This season’s IPL will play host to two new sides in the form of Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiants, who come in for Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, both suspended for 2 years. Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural IPL season in 2008, followed by the success of Deccan Chargers (now known as Sunrisers Hyderabad) in 2009.  Since then, three teams have won the IPL twice, with CSK winning in 2010 and 2011, MI in 2013 and 2015 and KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) in 2012 and 2014.

MI boasts a very balanced squad, especially one of the best bowling attacks in whole of IPL, with LasithMalinga, Mitchell McClenaghan, JaspritBumrah, Tim Southee and Harbhajan Singh in the armoury. Their batting is also one to look out for, with Rohit, Corey Anderson, Jos Buttler, Kieron Pollard and Lendl Simmons to name a few.

On the contrary, KXI have one of the most feared batting units, with Miller, Glenn Maxwell, Murali Vijay, Shaun Marsh and Manan Vohra at cards. Their bowling unit is also decent, with Mohit Sharma, Mitchell Johnson, Axar Patel, Kyle Abott and KC Cariappa all having international experience.
