KRUNAL PANDYA IS CHOSEN AS THE MAN OF THE MATCH! Says that he is really happy with the way he bowled today and adds that he was focusing on varying his pace. Feels that Bangalore is a heavy scoring ground but when he bowled a few balls, he got an idea that changing his pace will be a good idea. Informs that playing for Mumbai was his dream and he is really happy to contribute to their success.
Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma says that the win was important and it was a crunch game for them. He feels that they are now placed nicely on the points table. Once again repeats what he said at the toss that they were not thinking about the points table and were concentrating on the process. Admits that there was a hiccup in the middle but Buttler and Pollard finished it off well for them. Adds that Bangalore is a high scoring ground and they wanted to execute their plans with the ball. Informs that their plan was to take wickets in the middle overs and that's what happened. He feels that getting Kohli and de Villiers was crucial. Also adds that 150 was a good total to chase here. During the chase, Rohit says that they kept their nerves and just wanted to express themselves. (On the pitch) He opines that the surface was dry and slow and that's why they kept changing the bowlers. Informs that the idea was to not let the Bangalore batsmen adjust to a particular bowler. Says that they have three games left and their focus will be on Punjab next. (On having the upper hand in matches against Bangalore) Rohit Sharma replies that Bangalore are probably one of the best teams in the league and it brings the best out of them and also they wanted to make a point here after a disastrous last game.
Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli says that they are are literally playing knockouts from now on. Also says that they were not in the game till the 15 overs while batting. Praises Sachin Baby and KL Rahul for their knocks. He also praises his bowlers for pulling things back nicely but admits that they were 20 runs below par. He praises his opponent Mumbai for bowling and fielding well. He is pleased with the way they tried and feels that's all he needs from his team. Credits Mumbai and says that they read the wicket well and their spinners were exceptional. He once again praises his players for giving their 120 percent on the field. (On every game they have to win from here on) He replies it's a wonderful situation to be in, they literally have to win all and it's exciting. He feels they have the momentum, it takes a lot of character but that's what you play cricket for.
Bangalore are now staring down the barrel after today's defeat and every game for them from hereon becomes a knockout. One loss and it will be bye bye! Mumbai on the other hand have done well to bounce back after a disappointing loss in the last match.
Chasing 152, Mumbai lost Parthiv Patel cheaply but then the pair of Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu kept the chase on track by adding a 58-run stand. When this partnership got dislodged, the game entered into an interesting phase. The asking run rate was climbing when Kieron Pollard and Jos Buttler joined forces. The West Indian launched an attack and then the Englishman also joined the party. They showed no mercy on the hapless Bangalore bowling attack and targeted their best bowler, Shane Watson as well.
An outstanding win for Mumbai and they keep their campaign on track. It was a clinical game played by the defending champions where they first fared exceedingly well with the ball to restrict the home side to a below par total and then scaled down the target with 8 balls to spare.
