Tom Latham (C)c Yasir Ali b Mominul Haque 252 373 34 2 67.56
125.4
Mominul Haque to Tom Latham, OUT! TAKEN! Tom Latham's inning comes to an end! All of the Bangladesh players' come towards him to appreciate his innings. The crowd is also on their feet to give around of applause. This is full and on middle. Tom Latham tries to go big again as he tries to slog-sweep it but gets a top edge to mid-wicket where Yasir Ali takes it.
Will Youngc Mohammad Naim b Shoriful Islam 54 114 5 0 47.37
37.6
Shoriful Islam to Will Young, OUT! TAKEN! Finally, Bangladesh get the wicket. They needed this wicket really bad. This is full and outside off, asking Young to go for the drive. He nailed it in the previous delivery but this time ends up slicing it to point where Mohammad Naim takes it low and nicely. Bangladesh will look to build on this now. Will Young will be disappointed as he failed to convert this into a big one.
Devon Conwayrun out (Mehidy Hasan) 109 166 12 1 65.66
95.1
Shoriful Islam to Tom Latham, OUT! RUN OUT! Conway is short and this is probably the kind of spark Bangladesh needed. These two just did not look like getting out and a run out was probably the only way this partnership could have been broken. A slight hesitation costs Conway and ends a brilliant knock from him. On off, Latham looks to drop and run. There is a small hesitation but they go for it. Mehidy Hasan gets to the all, picks it up and with a dive forward, hits the stumps at the striker's end. It is taken upstairs and replays show that Conway is short. Can Bangladesh build from here now?
Ross Taylorc Shoriful Islam b Ebadot Hossain 28 39 4 0 71.79
105.4
Ebadot Hossain to Ross Taylor, OUT! TAKEN! Ross Taylor has been dismissed and this could well be the final walk off in whites for Ross Taylor for the Kiwis. The whole crowd is on their feet to applaud one of their best. A soft dismissal. This is angled into the pads, Taylor looks to flick it but it goes more off the inner half and Shoriful Islam takes it at square leg. Taylor was looking to be aggressive throughout his innings and falls in that process. Henry Nicholls walks out to bat.
Henry Nichollsc Nurul Hasan b Ebadot Hossain 0 4 0 0 0
109.1
Ebadot Hossain to Henry Nicholls, OUT! There is a spike as the ball passes the bat and Bangladesh have got another one. Ebadot Hossain gets his second and Henry Nicholls bags a duck, his poor form continues. This is on a length and around off, this lands and then jags back in. It goes off something to the keeper who takes it and appeals. The umpire shakes his head. Mominul Haque takes the review. Replays show that it is off the inside edge. A good little passage of play here for the visitors.
Daryl Mitchellc Nurul Hasan b Shoriful Islam 3 11 0 0 27.27
112.4
Shoriful Islam to Daryl Mitchell, OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Bangladesh end the session on a high! Shoriful Islam's hard work has been rewarded with a wicket. A length ball, outside off. Daryl Mitchell has a poke away from the body but the ball just nips slightly away and takes the outside edge to the keeper. Not sure why Daryl Mitchell took it upstairs as there was a noise. The review is wasted as the UltraEdge shows a spike as the ball passes the blade. That will be Lunch on Day 2.

Bangladesh innings

Shadman Islamc Tom Latham b Trent Boult 7 8 0 0 87.5
1.2
Trent Boult to Shadman Islam, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Trent Boult strikes early on and New Zealand have the early breakthrough! Islam was looking good but his stay is cut short. A length ball, scrambled seam from Boult, outside off. Islam has a poke away from the body and it takes the outside edge to second slip where Tom Latham takes it. Could have left it alone.
Mohammad Naimb Tim Southee 0 5 0 0 0
2.5
Tim Southee to Mohammad Naim, OUT! CHOPPED ON! Mohammad Naim was facing the fire and walks back to the pavilion on a duck. A length ball, outside off, the extra bounce does the trick as the ball shoots off the deck. Mohammad Naim hops and tries to block it but it takes the inside edge and rattles the stumps. New Zealand on the front foot early on.
Najmul Hossain Shantoc Tom Latham b Trent Boult 4 12 0 0 33.33
5.2
Trent Boult to Najmul Hossain Shanto, OUT! Boult and Latham again! He is in mood here. Proving very lethal for the Bangladeshi batters. This in on a length and on middle, this one nips touch away off the deck. Najmul Hossain Shanto is square up completely as he looks to flick but the ball takes the outside edge to second slip where Tom Latham holds onto it. Great start for the Kiwis. Bangladesh 3 down in no time.
Mominul Haque (C)b Tim Southee 0 8 0 0 0
6.1
Tim Southee to Mominul Haque, OUT! KNOCKED OUT! Through the gates! Bangladesh in all sorts of trouble here! The skipper goes for a duck! Southee hurls and serves it from over the wicket. On a length and swinging back in, on middle. Mominul Haque leaves a gap between the bat and pad as he tries to push and pays the price. The ball sneaks through and rattles the stumps.
Liton Dasc Tom Blundell b Trent Boult 8 18 1 0 44.44
11.2
Trent Boult to Liton Das, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Number 5 down now. Bangladesh falling apart all too quickly. Boult has his third. Yet another full one, it is outside off. Das looks to drive it through the off side but this one shapes back in and hence, it goes off the inside edge and low to the keeper who takes a good catch. 299 Test wickets for Boult.
Yasir Alic Daryl Mitchell b Kyle Jamieson 55 95 7 0 57.89
40.4
Kyle Jamieson to Yasir Ali, OUT! TAKEN! Now the set batter, Yasir Ali departs! A short ball, on middle. Yasir Ali pulls it, not quite of the middle as it goes off the toe end of the bat towards deep mid-wicket. Daryl Mitchell there, dives low and forward to take it. Very good catch and also end of a fine knock as well.
Nurul Hasan (W)lbw b Tim Southee 41 62 6 0 66.13
28.6
Tim Southee to Nurul Hasan, OUT! LBW! New Zealand have broken the partnership and it is Southee who gives the breakthrough. It looked plumb of the naked eye. A length ball, around middle and leg, it lands and nips back in. Nurul Hasan looks to flick but misses and gets hit on the pads. An appeal and up goes the finger. Hasan takes the review and the Ball Tracker shows umpire's call on wickets hitting.
Mehidy Hasanb Trent Boult 5 33 0 0 15.15
37.4
Trent Boult to Mehidy Hasan, OUT! TIMBER! 300 Test wickets for Trent Boult! Acknowledgment and appreciation from his teammates and the spectators as well. A delivery which deserved a wicket as well. A length ball, around off, angling it in. Mehidy Hasan was struggling against Boult and this time he fades away. This one comes back in and beats the outside edge as Hasan looks to defend. The off stump gets disturbed.
Taskin Ahmedc Will Young b Kyle Jamieson 2 3 0 0 66.67
38.4
Kyle Jamieson to Taskin Ahmed, OUT! TAKEN! Bangladesh are falling apart. A length ball, around off. Taskin Ahmed swings hard across but gets a leading edge towards mid-wicket where Will Young takes a skier. Finally, someone not named Boult or Southee gets a wicket.
Shoriful Islamb Trent Boult 2 3 0 0 66.67
41.2
Trent Boult to Shoriful Islam, OUT! TIMBER! Five-fer for Trent Boult! 301 and counting...! A length ball, around off, was the slower ball. Islam looks to push at it but misses and the ball clips the top of off pole. That will be Stumps on Day 2.

Bangladesh innings

Batting R B 4s 6s SR
Shadman Islamc Tom Blundell b Kyle Jamieson 21 48 3 0 43.75
13.5
Kyle Jamieson to Shadman Islam, OUT! TAKEN! That is a superb catch by Tom Blundell! Kyle Jamieson gets the breakthrough New Zealand wanted. They had to wait for quite some time for the first wicket as compared to the first innings but they finally have got it. Shadman Islam falls in a very soft manner. He will be gutted with himself. This is down the leg side, he looks to flick but his bottom hand comes off the handle in the process. It goes off the fine edge to the right of Tom. He dives and takes a one-handed spectacular catch. Shadman Islam walks back slowly, he was playing really well till then. Walks back after getting off to a start. Will this open the floodgates now?
Mohammad Naimc Tom Latham b Tim Southee 24 98 1 0 24.49
36.1
Tim Southee to Mohammad Naim, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Finally the edge is found and it goes to hand! Not exactly to hand as it is a catch manufactured and what a grab it is. Tom Latham, you beauty! That is a screamer. Wow! Southee manages to break the stand that was going along nicely. This catch will lift the Kiwis. Southee persists with the line outside off. This is fuller and it is the tempter. Naim falls for it and goes for the drive. This flies off the outside edge to the left of Latham at second slip who dives and takes it behind him. Naim's gritty little innings comes to an end. Das walks out to bat now.
Najmul Hossain Shantoc Trent Boult b Neil Wagner 29 36 5 1 80.56
26.2
Neil Wagner to Najmul Hossain Shanto, OUT! TAKEN! It is Wagner who comes out on top in his battle with Shanto! He is pumped up and that is yet another good catch, this time by Boult and New Zealand have a wicket a few minutes before Lunch. Just what they would have wanted. The barrage of short balls works. Shanto got a few runs from the pull shot but Wagner continues to bang it in. Shanto pulls again, this time flat and towards Boult. It goes to him at fine leg quickly but he hangs on. Can New Zealand take another one before the break? Still a little time left. Mominul Haque walks out to bat.
Mominul Haque (C)c Ross Taylor b Neil Wagner 37 63 4 0 58.73
44.4
Neil Wagner to Mominul Haque, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Taylor holds onto it and this time there is no doubt. Haque departs. He always seemed uncomfortable with those deliveries outside off. He chased quite a few and missed quite a few, a couple of edges were also found which did not go to hand but his luck runs out this time. Wagner goes full and outside off, a litltle bit of shape away. Haque goes after it, it goes off the outside edge and it is taken by Taylor at first slip. New Zealand 6 wickets away now.
Liton Daslbw b Kyle Jamieson 102 114 14 1 89.47
75.2
Kyle Jamieson to Liton Das, OUT! LBW! Liton Das' innings comes to an end. A wonderful innings though. Kyle Jamieson bowls a length ball, on middle and this one jags back in. Liton Das is caught at the crease and looks to work it on the leg side but misses. He gets hit on the pads. Kyle Jamieson appeals and the umpire straightaway raises his dreaded finger. Liton Das decides to challenge the umpire and opts for a review. UltraEdge shows there is a flat line as the ball passes the bat. Ball Tracker shows the ball is pitching outside off, the impact is in line and it is umpire's call on hitting in the wickets. So, Liton Das will have to depart after a terrific knock. His fighting knock is appreciated by the Bangladeshi camp. New Zealand just two wickets away now.
Yasir Alic Tom Latham b Neil Wagner 2 9 0 0 22.22
46.4
Neil Wagner to Yasir Ali, OUT! TAKEN! Wagner has another one and New Zealand now are managing to take wickets at regular intervals. They are just 5 wickets away now. Yasir Ali, who was quite solid in the first innings, falls to a nasty nut from Wagner. It is short and on the body, Yasir looks to fend it away again but does so uncomfortably. It goes off the splice and lobs to Latham at second slip. He takes a dolly. You just can't do a lot about such deliveries, you know they are coming but can't do a lot about it. Wagner is pumped and roaring in delight.
Nurul Hasan (W)c Neil Wagner b Daryl Mitchell 36 54 7 0 66.67
63.6
Daryl Mitchell to Nurul Hasan, OUT! CAUGHT! What a catch by Neil Wagner! Daryl Mitchell gets the much-needed breakthrough and breaks this century partnership. Good-length ball, on off. Nurul Hasan looks to drive this on the up but doesn't get his timing right. The ball is sliced towards wide mid off. Neil Wagner runs to his left and dives and holds onto that one. Daryl Mitchell is all pumped up and New Zealand have got the opening now. Mehidy Hasan walks in next to bat.
Mehidy Hasanc Tom Latham b Kyle Jamieson 3 30 0 0 10
71.5
Kyle Jamieson to Mehidy Hasan, OUT! CAUGHT! Kyle Jamieson comes into the attack and gets a wicket straightaway. New Zealand inching closer to level the series now. The delivery is on the shorter side, on middle. Mehidy Hasan stays back and looks to defend with a dead bat but gets squared up due to the extra bounce. The ball goes off the outside edge and flies to the second slip fielder. Tom Latham has very good hands and he doesn't drop those. Five catches in the match for Latham and he becomes the first player in Test history to score 250-plus runs and take five catches. Mehidy Hasan is disappointed as he walks back to the pavilion. The Bangladesh tail has been exposed now.
Taskin Ahmednot out 9 17 2 0 52.94
Shoriful Islamc Tim Southee b Kyle Jamieson 0 6 0 0 0
77.2
Kyle Jamieson to Shoriful Islam, OUT! TAKEN! Tim Southee has very safe pair of hands. He won't miss out on those. Kyle Jamieson bags his fourth wicket. Length ball, on middle. Shoriful Islam makes some room for himself and looks to heave it away. No timing at all on that one and the ball skies up high in the air towards mid on. Tim Southee traces back and keeps his eyes on the ball. He dives ahead and takes a good catch. New Zealand just one wicket away now.
Ebadot Hossainc Tom Latham b Ross Taylor 4 6 1 0 66.67
79.3
Ross Taylor to Ebadot Hossain, OUT! Goosebumps, Rosco has a fairytale end to his Test career, a fitting end, the crowd has gone bonkers. A tossed up delivery, outside off, Ebadot attempts to heave it over the leg side but only manages a top edge. Latham runs across a bit to his left and dives to complete the catch at mid-wicket. Ross celebrates with a big smile and is mobbed by his teammates. NEW ZEALAND WIN BY AN INNINGS AND 117 RUNS.
