Australia beat Pakistan by an innings and 5 runs | Australia Vs Pakistan 1st Test match

    • So! A bit of a dramatic end to what has been a one-sided Test match. Will the pink ball produce a different result? A better contest at least? Both Australia and Pakistan have a decent record in Day/Night Tests. The second match in Adelaide should be a cracker. Join us on Friday, November 29, 2019 at 2 pm local (0330 GMT). ADIOS! TAKE CARE!

    • MARNUS LABUSCHAGNE HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. On his maiden Test century at his home ground, Labuschagne says that it is very special to have everything pan out like that and is happy that he could contribute to the team's winning cause. On the nervous moments before his ton. Marnus admits that it was tough as he was keeping on thinking whether he will get there and believes he was lucky to get there. Adds that it was a big moment for him and his family. On his batting technique and mindset, Labuschagne says that playing in England has helped him and here, in Queensland as well, batting ain't easy, so that made him mentally tough. Is looking forward for the Day/Night Test in Adelaide.

    • Victorious Australian captain, Tim Paine, says that he is really happy. Especially given the innings victory and maintaining their excellent record at the 'Gabba. On contributions other than Steven Smith, Tim is happy as the team does not want to rely on Smith pretty heavily. Stresses that on a very good wicket, 580 is exactly the score that was expected out of the batsmen. On Warner getting back to form, he skipper says that many left-handers struggle in England but they always believed that Warner will strike form in Australia. On the Warner-Burns partnership, Paine says that he is not sure, as he has not spent too much time with Burns in the dressing room but is happy that whatever it is that keeps the pair ticking, it is great. On Marnus Labuschagne, Paine says that he is a great bloke to have as a mate, always keeping the dressing room in high spirits. Is happy that Labuschagne has realized his true potential. On his bowlers, Paine says that they were good but given the high standards that they have raised for themselves, he would have expected them to clean up Pakistan a bit earlier. But adds that Australia are lucky to have such a pace attack.

    • Pakistan skipper, Azhar Ali says that all of Pakistan's batsmen are in good nick and Babar showed that once they get a good partnership going, runs are always on offer. Praises the wicket which was very good but rues the missed opportunity in the first innings. On missing Mohammad Abbas, Ali says that it was always hard to leave someone like Abbas but the selection was done based on the performance of the trio in the warm-up match. Ensures that Abbas will always be there for Pakistan and they will come back hard in the second Test. Praises the debutant Naseem for having good temperament as a 16-year old, adjusting to the lengths and lines pretty quickly. On him being given just 4 overs on Saturday, Azhar says that Naseem is fit but the management does not want him to break down, hence they are managing him accordingly.

    • Now, for the summary of the match. Probably got over when Pakistan slipped from 75/0 to 94/5 on Day 1 and then managed just 240 after electing to bat. From there on, it was very difficult for them to come back and Warner-Burns' 222-run opening stand floored them. Yasir Shah was over the moon when he dismissed Steven Smith for the 7th time in Tests but they forgot that the Ashes had already prepared a substitute for Smudge - Marnus Labuschagne. The home lad played with total control and ensured that his side batted Pakistan out of the Test. Yasir Shah got 4 wickets but the bowling did not look threatening at all. Please stay tuned for the presentation...

    • First, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan added 132 for the 6th wicket and that was followed by a 79-run stand between Rizwan and Yasir. Azam scored a fantastic century but Rizwan missed his, while Yasir nearly got Australia batting again. Once again, it was the quartet of New South Wales bowlers as Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood and Lyon took all the 10 wickets. Not that there were any more options. Starc took four in the first innings while Hazlewood got 4 in the second.

    • Babar Azam, Shan Masood, Mohammad Rizwan and Yasir Shah - The Fantastic Four. They are the ones who kept Pakistan believing that they could fight and could avoid an innings defeat. Because after them, only Afridi managed double figures. Masood and Azam fought hard this morning, delaying Australia's quest for wickets and then the real fightback began.

    • 5 runs. That is what Pakistan fall short of to make Australia bat again. An innings defeat was expected and an innings defeat it is but what an epic fightback. Almost a reminiscent of the 2016 match where Pakistan nearly chased down 490. This time, they were chasing down 340 with the only difference being that the focus was to avoid an innings defeat.

    • 3 wickets for Mitchell Starc. Mitchell Starc is on a roll. 10 wickets down for PAK. Out batsman is Imran Khan Jr. It is all over for PAK. 84.2Mitchell Starc to Imran Khan Jr. out, OUT! Caught! No, they will not have to because Imran has holed out. Good length ball on middle, Imran looks to power it over the mid-wicket fence this time but manages only a top edge. Wade from long on comes forward to catch but initially misjudges it. He backtracks and then manages to hold on the catch over his head. Australia win the first Test by an innings and five runs.

    • 84.1Mitchell Starc to Imran Khan Jr. FOUR, FOUR! What a shot that is! Hits it over the bowler's head. Fullish length just around off, Imran clears his front leg and hammers it over mid on for a boundary. Five more runs and Australia will have to bat again.

    • End of over 84 ( 0 Runs )PAK 331/9 maiden over bowled by Josh Hazlewood 83.6Josh Hazlewood to Naseem Shah. no run, Hazlewood tries to bowl the inswinging yorker but ends up missing it and bowling a full toss.

    • 83.5Josh Hazlewood to Naseem Shah. no run, Heave and a miss this time. But it misses the bat and stumps as well.

    • Naseem Shah is the last man in.

    • 83.4Josh Hazlewood to Shaheen Afridi. out, OUT! 9 down and Australia are just a wicket away. Back of a length delivery on middle, Shaheen looks to mow it to over mid-wicket but mistimes it. It lobs towards short cover where Cummins takes the easiest of the catches.

    • 83.3Josh Hazlewood to Shaheen Afridi. no run, Almost dragged it on the stumps. Full and wide outside off, Shaheen looks to drive but the ball takes the inside edge onto the pads.

    • 83.2Josh Hazlewood to Shaheen Afridi. no run, Bouncer and around off, Shaheen sways away from the line of the delivery.

    • 83.1Josh Hazlewood to Shaheen Afridi. no run, Good length ball around off, Shaheen blocks it off the front foot.

    • End of over 83 ( 1 Runs )PAK 331/8 82.6Mitchell Starc to Imran Khan Jr. no run, Fuller and outside off, Imran pushes at it to get beaten.

    • 82.5Mitchell Starc to Imran Khan Jr. no run, Shortish length, aimed at the body. Imran looks to work it on the leg side but gets hit on the body and then it goes to Labuschagne at short leg. He appeals but not sure for why. Nothing from the umpire.

    • 82.4Mitchell Starc to Shaheen Afridi. 1 run, Back of a length ball on middle, Shaheen pulls it to deep mid-wicket for a single. Two balls to survive for Imran.
