12.2
William O'Rourke to Neil Brand, OUT! Given LBW! A big shout and up goes the finger! Raynard van Tonder walks up to his partner and Neil Brand goes for the review! William bowls it with an upright seam from around the wicket, on a good length, on off and middle, Neil Brand does not move his feet much and looks to keep it out with a straight bat. The ball nips back in off the deck and sneaks past the inside edge to rap him high on the back leg. There is nothing on UltraEdge. The Ball Tracking shows that it has pitched in line, the impact is in line and wickets is umpire's call as it is clipping the middle stump. William O'Rourke gets his first Test wicket and what a special moment it is for the debutant. The skipper, Neil Brand walks back dejected who was looking good.
Clyde Fortuin (W)c Glenn Phillips b Matt Henry 0 1 0 0 0
1.1
Matt Henry to Clyde Fortuin, OUT! WHAT A GRAB! Matt Henry strikes with his first delivery! A disaster for Clyde Fortuin as he goes for a golden duck! Henry starts from over the wicket and pitches it up to the batter, inviting him to go for the drive, outside off, Clyde Fortuin falls for the trap and reaches out in front. He does not move his feet and goes at it with hard hands. Gets an outside edge that flies waist-high to the left of gully. Glenn Phillips reacts quickly and flings his left hand to pluck it out of thin air. Phillips makes a tough catch look easy and New Zealand have the early wicket.
Raynard van Tonderc Tom Latham b Neil Wagner 32 71 3 0 45.07
25.3
Neil Wagner to Raynard van Tonder, OUT! CAUGHT! Raynard van Tonder has thrown it away on the stroke of lunch! Persists on the back of a length delivery, around off. van Tonder looks to guide it down but it goes uppishly and straight to Latham, at the gully region. The Kiwis are delighted as the plan works and van Tonder is a goner! South Africa are three down.
Zubayr Hamzac sub Mitchell Santner b Rachin Ravindra 20 99 3 0 20.2
45.1
Rachin Ravindra to Zubayr Hamza, OUT! IN THE AIR AND GONE! Oh, no! What have you done, Zubayr Hamza? He runs out of patience and throws his wicket away! Spin has done the trick for New Zealand. Rachin Ravindra tosses it up nicely and invites the big shot, full and around off, Zubayr Hamza clears his front leg and gets down. His eyes light up and goes for an ugly hoick across the line. The ball spins away and catches the top edge and it lobs tamely to backward point where the substitute fielder, Mitchell Santner takes it.
David Bedinghamc Will Young b Rachin Ravindra 39 102 7 0 38.24
61.6
Rachin Ravindra to David Bedingham, Was it a bump ball? Hang on a minute, it does not look so, and David Bedingham looks to be gone here. Yes, he surely is. Unfortunate for Bedingham and New Zealand are delighted. Rachin hurls it on a fullish length, on middle, David Bedingham keeps his weight on the back foot and looks to clip it away on the leg side. Gets an inside edge that goes straight onto his boot and pops up in the hands of Will Young at short leg. At first instance, it looked like a bump ball and the ball had bounced off the ground. Moreover, Young had flicked the ball back to the keeper to attempt a run out so he was not sure either. As it turns out, a lucky breakthrough for New Zealand.
Keegan Petersenc Tim Southee b Rachin Ravindra 2 6 0 0 33.33
47.1
Rachin Ravindra to Keegan Petersen, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Rachin Ravindra strikes again for the Kiwis! Keegan Petersen falls cheaply and South Africa have now lost half their side! Rachin tosses it up a touch and bowls it full and straight, on off, Keegan Petersen reaches out in front but fails to get to the pitch of the ball. He pushes at it with hard hands in front. The ball spins away a bit but enough to catch the outside edge. Tim Southee at first slip reacts quickly as he dives to his right and takes a good low catch.
Ruan de Swardtb William O'Rourke 64 156 9 0 41.03
97.1
William O'Rourke to Ruan de Swardt, OUT! CHOPPED ON! It's William O'Rourke again! End of Ruan de Swardt's long vigil. Steams in from around the wicket and hits the deck hard, on off, Ruan de Swardt hops back to defend it down onto the deck. The ball nips back in and catches the bottom part of the bat. It deflects onto his heels before trickling back onto the stumps to dislodge the bails. The debutant gets his third wicket and South Africa lose their ninth wicket with 242 runs on the board.
Shaun von Bergb William O'Rourke 38 89 7 0 42.7
91.4
William O'Rourke to Shaun von Berg, OUT! BOWLED'EM! William O'Rourke with the early strike on Day 2! The Kiwi debutant gets rid of the Proteas debutant! Comes from over the wicket for the right-hander and hurls it on a good length, shaping back in, on top of off, Shaun von Berg does not move his feet here and looks to keep this one out using his hands. The ball comes back in off the seam and goes past the inside edge to clip the top of the off-stump, enough to dislodge the bails. New Zealand have the early wicket they needed.
Dane Piedtc Tom Blundell b Tim Southee 4 6 1 0 66.67
94.1
Tim Southee to Dane Piedt, OUT! TAKEN! Tim Southee gets in on the wickets column now! The extra bounce did the trick there for the Kiwi skipper. Southee goes into the wicket, around the left shoulder, Dane Piedt hops back but fails to get on top of the bounce to fend it down on the leg side. He gets his hands into a tangle and the ball gets big on him. The ball lobs off his gloves behind the wicket. The keeper, Tom Blundell runs across to his left and dives in front to complete the catch.
Tshepo Morekinot out 4 15 1 0 26.67
Dane Patersonc Tom Latham b William O'Rourke 0 1 0 0 0
97.2
William O'Rourke to Dane Paterson, OUT! IN THE AIR AND GONE! Two in two from the debutant, William O'Rourke to wrap up the innings. Dane Paterson goes for a big shot first up and perishes. William O'Rourke comes from over the wicket for the right-hander and bowls it on a good length, angling in, around middle and leg, Dane Paterson backs away a long way on the leg side and swings through the line. The ball comes on slower than he expected and he ends up slicing it high in the air off the bottom half of the bat. It goes up only as far as second slip as where Tom Latham settles under it and dives forward to take the catch safely. William O'Rourke finishes with 4 wickets and South Africa have been bowled out for 242 in their first innings.

Dane Piedt to Tom Latham, OUT! BOWLED'EM! Dane Piedt gets the huge wicket of Tom Latham! Lands it on a length, around the middle and off-stump line. Latham hangs back to defend this but the ball takes a hint of spin and goes past his outside edge to cannon into the stumps.  Brilliant bowling by Piedt to get his first wicket as New Zealand lose their second!
Devon Conwayc Clyde Fortuin b Dane Paterson 0 3 0 0 0
0.4
Dane Paterson to Devon Conway, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Dane Paterson draws the first blood! Exactly the start South Africa would have wanted. Angles it into the left-hander, on a length, around off, Devon Conway is forced to play at it due to the angle and gets drawn forward in defence. The ball slants back into him and nips away late, enough to catch the outside edge and the keeper, Clyde Fortuin does the rest.
Kane Williamsonc Raynard van Tonder b Dane Piedt 43 108 7 0 39.81
37.4
Dane Piedt to Kane Williamson, OUT! TAKEN! Dane Piedt gets the big fish! Tosses it on a length and turns into the middle and leg stump line. Williamson goes back and looks to nudge it away through square leg. He gets an inside edge onto the pad and the ball lobs up to the short-leg fielder. Raynard van Tonder stationed there makes no mistake and both the set batters are gone in quick time. New Zealand are three down!
Rachin Ravindrab Tshepo Moreki 29 73 4 0 39.73
56.6
Tshepo Moreki to Rachin Ravindra, OUT! DRAGGED ON! Tshepo Moreki gets his man and he is pumped! A wicket against the run of play for South Africa. Moreki angles it across the left-hander, on a back of a length, outside off, Rachin Ravindra gets tempted by the width on offer and goes after it without any foot movement. It stays lower than Rachin would have expected and catches the bottom edge of the bat which goes back on to clatter into the stumps. Rachin is dejected as he starts to trudge off.
Will Youngc Ruan de Swardt b Dane Piedt 36 73 3 1 49.32
63.3
Dane Piedt to Will Young, OUT! TAKEN! It's Dane Piedt again! A rush of blood for Will Young and he pays the price for it. South Africa are jubilant as they find themselves right on top. Piedt gives the ball air and bowls it full, on off and middle, Will Young shimmies down the track and tries to go down town with the spin. The bat turns in his hands and he fails to get the desired connection. Hits it flat and straight down the throat of wide long on where Ruan de Swardt reverse cups it in front of his face. A body blow to New Zealand as they lose their last recognised batter with still 79 runs away from parity.
Tom Blundell (W)b Dane Paterson 4 10 0 0 40
60.6
Dane Paterson to Tom Blundell, OUT! CHOPPED ON! Another Kiwi batter drags it back onto his stumps and New Zealand are in a spot of bother here. They have lost half their side with still 85 runs away from parity. Dane Paterson hits the deck hard and bowls it outside off, gets the ball to nip back in a tough and it shoots off the deck as well. Tom Blundell is standing outside his crease and looks to lift the ball to let the ball pass. It gets rushed in doing so and he fails to get the bat out of the line of the ball. It catches the bottom part of the bat and deflects back onto the stumps.
Glenn Phillipsc Clyde Fortuin b Dane Piedt 4 4 1 0 100
61.5
Dane Piedt to Glenn Phillips, OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Or is it? Up goes the finger and South Africa are celebrating. Glenn Phillips is not sure and after having a chat with Will Young, he sends it upstairs. Tosses it up does Piedt, full and turning in sharply, on off, Glenn Phillips gets a good stride in to keep it out. The ball spins in to catch the inside edge and it lobs up off the pads to the keeper, Clyde Fortuin who takes the catch with ease. The bat has also hit the pad simultaneously but UltraEdge confirms that it has indeed come off the bat and Glenn Phillips will have to walk back. New Zealand in more trouble now, trailing by 80 runs.
Matt Henryrun out (Zubayr Hamza / Clyde Fortuin) 10 28 1 0 35.71
70.4
Shaun von Berg to Matt Henry, OUT! South Africa strikes another blow as a good bit of fielding removes Matt Henry from the middle. Short of a length on off, Matt Henry punches this to extra-cover and looks for the run but Neil Wagner says no and sends him back. Henry has to turn around and scampers back to save his wicket but the throw was a good one from Zubayr Hamza and just above the stumps as the keeper, Clyde Fortuin did the rest by removing the bails.
Tim Southee (C)c Raynard van Tonder b Dane Paterson 5 15 0 0 33.33
66.4
Dane Paterson to Tim Southee, OUT! Skipper Tim Southee departs on 5.  Short-pitched into the body, Tim Southee looks for the pull but gets late to it as the ball gets high on his bat and travels behind Raynard van Tonder at mid-wicket who takes a good catch running backwards and fetching this coming from over his head.

Dane Piedt to Neil Wagner, OUT! STUMPED! FIFER FOR Dane Piedt! Tossed up, angling in and turning away from the batter, Neil Wagner jumps down the track looking for the wild slog but gets beaten and the keeper gathers it cleanly behind the stumps and removes the bails in a flash. New Zealand have been bowled out for 221, conceding a 31-run lead to South Africa.

10.1
Rachin Ravindra to Clyde Fortuin, OUT! LBW! Rachin Ravindra makes the breakthrough for New Zealand. Clyde Fortuin looked tentative this morning and has to depart. Tossed up on middle and leg, Clyde Fortuin tries to paddle sweep but misses the ball completely. The ball gets under the bat and hits him on the pads. The umpire takes no time in giving that out. The batters do have a chat but Neil Brand doesn't look very convinced for the review.

Neil Wagner bends his back and bangs it in short, on off, Zubayr Hamza fails to get on top of the bounce and looks to fetch the pull from outside off. The move to bring the debutant into the attack has paid rich dividends for New Zealand. The centurion falls with South Africa leading by 250 runs.
Keegan Petersenc Glenn Phillips b Matt Henry 43 79 6 0 54.43
59.2
Matt Henry to Keegan Petersen, OUT! WOW, WHAT A GRAB! An absolute worldie by Glenn Phillips to break that stand. It had to take something special to bring this partnership and it has come from New Zealand's best fielder. Matt Henry bowls it on a back of a length, outside off, Keegan Petersen tries to latch onto the width and goes after it with all his might. Cuts it hard but aerially towards gully where Glenn Phillips' sharp reflexes come to his rescue. He flings himself to his right and takes a one-handed stunner. He took a similar catch in the first inning but that was to his left.

Glenn Phillips to Ruan de Swardt, OUT! BOWLED'EM! You just can't keep Glenn Phillips out of the game! First, a stunning catch, and now he has delivered with the ball. Phillips tosses it up nicely, full and on the off-stump line, Ruan de Swardt walks way too across his stumps as he goes for the sweep. He fails to make the connection and pays the price for it. The ball goes past his bat and pegs back the off-stump. Double strike for New Zealand with South Africa leading by 244 runs.
