This has been an epic Test series for the hosts and the whole country will be celebrating with them. However, the disappointed Aussies will have a chance to fight back in the ODI series. The Islanders will still hold the advantage of familiar conditions but a revamped Australia will be keen to make their comeback. Do join us on the 21st of August at 1430 IST as we dive into the fast-paced action to follow! Until then... Cheers and take care!
Victorious Sri Lankan captain, ANGELO MATHEWS says that it is a fantastic moment to stage a comeback from 26/5. (On the final Test match) Dhananjaya de Silva and Dinesh Chandimal got them through the 2nd and 3rd sessions and, of course, Rangana Herath was fantastic for his side. He thanks everyone for their help - the selectors, support staff, team and most importantly, the fans. He says that the Australians gave them a hard fight even if it didn't go their way and wishes them the very best for the ODI series.
Australian captain, STEVEN SMITH says that he had a tough series. For him, Sri Lanka played very well and his team was disappointed to lose. He adds that Sri Lanka got off to a good start and it was all downhill from there for his side. (On the ODI series) For him, it is a different format and new people will come in to his team. He adds that it is going to be more competitive. (On the fans that came to support Australia) He apologizes profusely for the team's performance and hopes the ODI series will be better.
Man of the Match and Series, RANGANA HERATH says that hard work pays off and one is rewarded for it. He says his experiences have made him a better player and has taught him a lot. (About the challenges the team has faced) They have had a tough seven or eight months but they stayed together and wanted to continue their performance from the first Test. (On not playing in the ODI series) He says that it is good to get a break and spend time with family. (On his future) He looks at things series-by-series but hopes to play in the next one.
Rangana Herath has been awarded as the Man of the Match.
Earlier in the match, both the sides showed stomach to fight as both the teams had centurions, bowlers with 5-wicket hauls but in the end it was Sri Lanka who were worthy for the title. For Sri Lanka, the champions were Dinesh Chandimal, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kaushal Silva and Rangana Herath. It was pure team work to win a famous series here. Australia have failed once again to chase a target of 250-plus in Asia, a record they would like to change. Stay tuned for the presentation...
From 100/ 2 to be bowled out on 160 shows the tumble of the Australian side and the brilliance of the Sri Lankan bowling. The hosts used only three bowlers in this innings to send the Kangaroos packing. With this loss, they have now lost their No.1 Test ranking too. For Australia, David Warner was the lone warrior with his 21st Test fifty as others failed to contribute.
Sri Lanka win by 163 runs and have also won the series 3-0 and it is a whitewash. What a great turnaround by the hosts in this match after being 26/5 on day 1. What a game of cricket after putting a target of 324 for the tourists. The hosts didn't bowl well in the first session as the Aussies really negotiated well in the first session. It was Dilruwan Perera who took the valued wicket of Shaun Marsh just at the stroke of lunch. And after that, it was all about Rangana Herath. The vintage bowler went on to register his 26th Test 5-fer and completed 13 wickets in this match with his magical arm.

Herath has already pulled a stump and the fielders meet in the middle. Lyon is curious and decides to take the review but the celebrations are already underway. The ball is a fair one and goes on to hit the pads plumb in front of the stumps. That spells the end for Australia as SRI LANKA WIN THIS MATCH BY 163 RUNS AND TAKE THE SERIES 3-0!

Welcome to the afternoon session. DAVID WARNER and STEVEN SMITH to bat and DILRUWAN PERERA will finish his over.
From the moment Australia came out to bat, however, the tables were turned and they were all over the Lankans this time. The pair of Marsh and Warner came out swinging, setting up a 77-run stand. Moments before lunch, however, Sri Lanka made a breakthrough. Marsh was caught by Mendis at forward short leg to end the session on a very interesting note. With 247 to win and 61.2 overs minimum remaining, things are poised at a very delicate stage. Join us at 1240 IST for what promises to be another great session.
What a morning session it has been! If this keeps up, then this day looks to be very eventful indeed. Sri Lanka were true to their game plan, scoring quickly to set an imposing target of 324. Australia, meanwhile, played against the clock, taking frequent drinks breaks and slowing down play.

Tossed up ball on middle and leg, Marsh looks to defend it to the leg side but the ball hurries on to him and it goes off his gloves. Mendis at FSL gets his hands on it but cannot hold it as he gobbles it first and takes it in his second attempt. What a catch and a crucial wicket at the stroke of lunch. Australia are one down for 77. Marsh cannot believe it as he has thrown away his wicket. Though, the umpire checks it upstairs if the ball hits Mendis' helmet before being caught and it looks all fine. The opening stand has been broken and Sri Lanka will have something to take from this session. With that the umpire calls for LUNCH ON DAY 5!
