Rory Burnslbw b Roston Chase 15 35 1 0 42.86
13.2
R Chase to Burns, OUT! Three reds and Burns has to go! Chase has done exactly what he was brought on to do. Right on the stroke of Lunch. England lose Burns and a review as well. Flighted delivery pitching on middle, Burns looks to defend but the ball does not spin and straightens on after pitching. Burns misses it and gets hit on the front pad. The West Indies players put in a huge appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Burns has a brief chat with Sibley and then decides to take it upstairs. Replay rolls in and first it is confirmed no bat is involved. Time for Ball Tracker and it shows all reds. Burns has to walk back and he takes away a review as well. The players all follow him as it is Lunch on Day 1!
Dom Sibleyc Kemar Roach b Roston Chase 120 372 5 0 32.26
125.6
R Chase to Sibley, OUT! IN THE AIR... TAKEN! Stop the press, the partnership has finally been broken! Sibley's marathon knock has come to an end. It was needed to up the ante and Sibley tried doing so. He used his feet, looks to whip it over the mid-wicket fence but only manages a top edge. It balloons high up in the air towards Roach in the deep who runs to his left and takes a tumbling catch.
Zak Crawleyc Jason Holder b Roston Chase 0 1 0 0 0
13.3
R Chase to Zak Crawley, OUT! TAKEN! A wicket before the Lunch break and a wicket after it! Nothing better could the Windies have asked for. Roston Chase gets his second and it is Zak who played really well in the last game bags a golden duck. A soft dismissal to be honest. It lands on middle, Crawley looks to work it on the leg side but does so uppishly towards leg slip who takes a sharp catch. England find themself in a spot of bother here. Chase is on a hat-trick.
Joe Root (C)c Jason Holder b Alzarri Joseph 23 49 2 0 46.94
31.2
A Joseph to Joe Root, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! There is the wicket Windies so desperately needed. Root is out of here. He never actually looked settled, he always looked rusty and now finally falls. The partnership which was building nicely has been broken. It is the sucker ball which does the trick. Full and outside off, Root goes to drive but does not get his front foot towards the pitch of the delivery, he ends up edging it to Holder at second slip. Joseph gets the big fish and the Windies are elated.
Ben Stokesc Shane Dowrich b Kemar Roach 176 356 17 2 49.44
142.2
K Roach to Stokes, OUT! TAKEN! Roach finally, finally gets a wicket. He has had to wait for more than 4 innings to do so. He deserves it. He has been continuously running in, giving it his all with a smile, this should make him feel a lot better. He bowls this one outside off and it is on a length. Stokes looks to play the reverse sweep but the ball kisses the glove and goes to the keeper. An appeal and up goes the finger. End of a superb innings from Stokes. He misses out on a double ton but we are pretty sure that wasn't on his mind.
Ollie Popelbw b Roston Chase 7 8 0 0 87.5
129.5
R Chase to Pope, OUT! LBW! That is plumb in front! Pope goes back for a low score. He misses a straight ball there. It is on middle, Pope goes back and looks to defend. He fails to put bat on ball and is struck on the pad. An appeal and up goes the finger.
Jos Buttler (W)c Alzarri Joseph b Jason Holder 40 79 4 0 50.63
154.4
J Holder to Buttler, OUT! CAUGHT! Buttler holes out! Trying to take on the West Indies skipper, Buttler goes for a big hit but unsuccessfully. Fuller ball on middle and leg, Buttler flicks it uppishly. He gets the height but not enough distance. It goes to the left of deep square leg. Alzarri Joseph there seems to have misread it but manages to take the catch.
Chris Woakesc Shai Hope b Kemar Roach 0 1 0 0 0
142.3
K Roach to C Woakes, OUT! Caught! Two-in-two for Roach. One brings two and that is exactly the case for Kemar. This is a length delivery around off, Woakes pushes at it but the ball shapes away a touch. Goes off the outside edge towards gully where Hope takes a good low catch. Not a good return into the side with the bat for Woakes.
Sam Curranc Kraigg Brathwaite b Roston Chase 17 39 1 1 43.59
155.3
R Chase to Curran, OUT! CAUGHT! 5-wicket haul for Chase and he has been the ray of shining hope in this innngs for the tourists. He will be a happy man and England now 9 down. Floated on middle and off, Curran looks to reverse sweep it but gets no timing and serves a dolly at point. Kraigg Brathwaite there takes a simple catch.

Kraigg Brathwaitec & b Ben Stokes 75 165 8 0 45.45
68.1
Stokes to Brathwaite, OUT! Caught & Bowled! Stokes is the man, once again! He kept bowling the short stuff and has got the reward. This one is not as short as the other ones but Brathwaite is on the back foot as he tries to work it on the leg side. He though ends up getting a leading edge and the ball balloons towards Stokes. A simple chance for him and he accepts it. They check for the legality of the ball but Stokes is fine. A fine knock from Brathwaite comes to an end.
John Campbelllbw b Sam Curran 12 34 2 0 35.29
9.4
Sam Curran to Campbell, OUT! THREE REDS! Campbell is a goner! An excellent bowling change from Root! Curran has this habit of picking up a wicket when his team needs it. Just 4 balls into his first over and he gets rid of one opener. Excellent review too! Curran bowls it full and around off, it shapes in a touch. He got this one to come in after taking the last two away. Campbell looks to drive but there are two noises. It has hit the pad for sure but is it bat-pad or pad and pad? England appeal and the umpire feels its the former and shakes his head. England review. Replays show it is front pad and back pad. Time for the Hawk Eye and it shows the on-field call has to be overturned. Another low score for Campbell, England would like one more before Stumps.
Alzarri Josephc Ollie Pope b Dom Bess 32 52 3 0 61.54
24.2
Dom Bess to A Joseph, OUT! CAUGHT! Bess comes and makes an impact straightaway. The night watchman who was technically not out for a whole day has to go. Quicker off spinner on middle and leg, Joseph looks to defend but it goes off the inner half of the bat uppishly to the right of short leg. Pope there shows great reflexes and takes a very good catch. Alzarri's inning comes to an end and England finally have a breakthrough.
Shai Hopec Jos Buttler b Sam Curran 25 71 5 0 35.21
45.4
Sam Curran to Hope, OUT! Caught! Shai Hope departs and England have started the new session the way they would have been hoping for. Just the third over into the new session and Sam Curran has got rid of Shai Hope. Good bowling from the young English all-rounder. He has a knack of picking wickets and he has done just that. Good length ball just outside off, Hope gets on his front foot and looks to defend but the ball straightens and kisses the outside edge of the bat and goes straight to Jos Buttler behind the stumps. He takes an easy catch and the budding stand is broken.
Shamarh Brookslbw b Stuart Broad 68 137 11 0 49.64
82.2
S Broad to Brooks, OUT! LBW! Pinned in front! The second new ball has done the trick for England. A length ball around off, coming in nicely. Brooks is late in getting his bat down to work it on the leg side and gets pinned in front of the stumps. Broad and co. appeal and the umpire raises the finger quickly. Second batsman to fall in the 50s for West Indies. A solid innings nonetheless from him. They are still 28 behind from avoiding the follow-on.
Roston Chaselbw b Chris Woakes 51 85 7 0 60
98.1
C Woakes to Chase, OUT! LBW! Excellent review from England and they are just one wicket away from batting again. Roston Chase's brilliant innings comes to an end. Another very good ball from Woakes and he has his second of the innings. Full and quick around off, Chase looks to defend but misses due to the pace and the movement. He gets hit on the pads but there is some noise. England players appeal but the umpire turns it down. Root has a word with Woakes and decides to take it upstairs. Replay rolls in and Ultra Edge shows that the bat hit the pad and not the ball. Time for the Ball Tracker and it shows three reds. Chase has to walk back and England now have two tailenders at the crease.
Jermaine Blackwoodb Stuart Broad 0 6 0 0 0
84.4
Broad to J Blackwood, OUT! Bowled! The hero with the willoow in Southampton walks back for a duck in Manchester. Broad gets his man and he has second one of the game. Big wicket for the hosts here not just because Blackwood is a dangerous man but also because England now have their tail up. After bowling shorter, Broad goes a bit fuller on off, the ball stays a bit low off the deck. Blackwood looks to defend but the low bounce does him and he hears the awful sound of the timber. Music to Broad's ears though.
Shane Dowrich (W)lbw b Stuart Broad 0 5 0 0 0
86.3
S Broad to Dowrich, OUT! LBW! Pitching in line and hitting the stumps. So, the review does not save Dowrich. He goes for a duck as well. Broad is making the new ball talk and causing trouble here for West Indies. A length ball angled in from just outside off, Dowrich tries to flick it off his back foot but misses to get hit on the pads. An appeal follows and the umpire agrees. Dowrich takes it upstairs. Let's see if he can survive. The front foot is fine. Any bat? No, confirms the Ultra Edge. Pitching in line and hitting the wickets. So, Dowrich has to go and he takes one review along with him. West Indies still need 18 to avoid the follow-on.
Jason Holder (C)c Joe Root b Chris Woakes 2 12 0 0 16.67
90.2
C Woakes to J Holder, OUT! Caught! Woakes comes into the attack and gets a wicket. We are in for a cracker here as West Indies have two wickets in hand and need to avoid follow on. First wicket of the game for Woakes and it is the big one of the West Indies skipper. Excellent bowling from Woakes. He bowls it around off, in the channel of uncertainty and makes it shape a tad. Just enough to trouble Holder. He looks to defend but gets a thick outside edge to first slip. The English skipper, judges it well and takes a good catch.
Kemar Roachnot out 5 24 1 0 20.83
Shannon Gabrielb Chris Woakes 0 5 0 0 0
98.6
C Woakes to Gabriel, OUT! Bowled! The slower ball does the trick and West Indies are bowled out now. Woakes smartly takes the pace off this one and bowls it on a length, Gabriel looks to defend but gets deceived by the lack of pace. The ball also moves away a bit, squaring up Gabriel and hitting the off pole. West Indies bowled out for 287! Trail by 182.

K Roach to Buttler, OUT! DRAGGED ON! Buttler goes for a duck and the plan to open with him fails. Full and outside off, Buttler sees the chance of freeing his arms. He throws his bat but ends up dragging the ball on his stumps. Idea start for West Indies as Buttler could've score really quickly.
Zak Crawleyb Kemar Roach 11 15 1 0 73.33
4.1
K Roach to Crawley, OUT! BOWLED! The middle stump goes cartwheeling. Roach gets his second wicket of the innings and England's aggressive approach is backfiring here. Good length ball on middle and off, Crawley looks to go down town but misses and the ball takes the middle stump with it. Great sight for any bowler but a fast bowler's delight.
Joe Root (C)run out (Shane Dowrich) 22 33 0 0 66.67
15.1
Joseph to Root, OUT! RUN OUT! Root sacrifices his wicket for Stokes and the team. Joseph starts with a ball down the leg side. Root looks to flick but misses. Stokes is on his bike to get on strike. Root keeps his head down and runs. Dowrich throws the ball to Holder who comes from mid off and whips the bails off. Root is nowhere in the frame and he has to depart.

Woakes to Brathwaite, OUT! LBW! That is plumb and Brathwaite is not taking the DRS. He just walks as he knows where he was standing. A good length ball that comes back in from just around off, Brathwaite looks to defend but misses to get hit on the back pad. Huge appeal follows and the umpire agrees. Brathwaite has a word with Hope but keeps walking. The replays later show that it would've been umpire's call on hitting the wickets.
John Campbellc Jos Buttler b Stuart Broad 4 4 1 0 100

S Broad to Campbell, OUT! Caught Behind! A last second review but it is a successful one. A full ball outside off, Campbell once again looks to drive it through the covers but fails to connect. There is a loud appeal but nothing from Buttler from behind the wickets. Root thinks and thinks and calls for the review at the last moment. And, the replays show that there is a clear spike. So, England have drawn first blood in the very first over.
Shai Hopeb Stuart Broad 7 26 1 0 26.92
8.5
Broad to S Hope, OUT! Knocked him over with a beauty! Another one bites the dust and England are on fire. Brilliant from Broad. A brilliant ball again. Pitches just outside off and nips back in sharply to beat the inside edge and topple the timbers behind. West Indies in all sorts of trouble early on.
Shamarh Brookslbw b Sam Curran 62 136 4 2 45.59
55.5
Sam Curran to Brooks, OUT! LBW! Super Sam does it again. This young lad has a golden arm and he has got the big wicket of Shamarh Brooks. The wicket England were desperately looking for and Curran has given Root that. Brilliant bowling from Sam, he comes around the wicket and pitches it around off. The change of angle works as the ball comes in off the deck. Brooks looks to defend off his back foot but misses and gets stuck on the crease. The ball hits him on his back pad. The English players put in a huge appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Brooks has a word with Holder but opts against review. Would not have mattered as replays later on show that it was hitting the wickets on umpire's call.
Roston Chaselbw b Stuart Broad 6 19 1 0 31.58
14.6
S Broad to Chase, OUT! LBW! No shot offered and Chase has to go. He will not review this. Broad has his third and West Indies in a massive, massive trouble. A length ball outside off, Chase thinks it will not come back in much and shoulders arms. However, to his surprise, the ball comes back in nicely and hits him on the pads. A loud appeal follows and the umpire raises his finger. Chase keeps walking and the replays show why. It would've been waste of a review had he taken that.
Jermaine Blackwoodc Jos Buttler b Ben Stokes 55 88 7 0 62.5
42.4
Ben Stokes to Blackwood, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Stokes is the man again. What a player! He just keeps coming at you. On the first ball of the over, he ran all the way down to long off to save a boundary and now once again bowls an effort ball. Bangs it short around the body. Blackwood tries to somehow fend it off but ends up getting it off his gloves. The ball balloons behind. Buttler charges ahead, covers a lot of ground and takes the catch with a dive forward. A fine innings from Blackwood comes to an end. And with that, TEA ON DAY 5.
Shane Dowrich (W)lbw b Chris Woakes 0 3 0 0 0
43.2
C Woakes to Dowrich, OUT! Just clipping the leg stump but that will do for England. Dowrich goes without opening his account once again. 100th Test wicket for Woakes. A good length ball around off, Dowrich after facing the chin music in the last over is hoping to work it on the leg side. He moves a little towards the off side and is hit on the pad. Woakes and others put in a loud appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Dowrich takes it upstairs after having a word with Brooks. Let's see if he is safe or no. Front foot is fine. No bat involved either. Where is it hitting? Clipping the leg stump so the on-field decision stays. Dowrich has to go and England just 4 wickets away from leveling the series.
Jason Holder (C)b Dom Bess 35 62 5 1 56.45
62.5
Dom Bess to Holder, OUT! Bowled! Bess has the last laugh and he has bowled a beauty to get rid of the West Indies skipper. A perfect off spinners Test wicket. Bess gives this air and bowls it on the rough outside off, Holder looks to defend but the ball spins right between the gate of bat and pad to hit the top of middle and leg. England just 2 wickets away now.
Kemar Roachc Ollie Pope b Dom Bess 5 31 1 0 16.13

Dom Bess to K Roach, OUT! Caught! Ollie Pope takes a stunner at short leg to seal the game! Floated delivery on middle and leg, Roach flicks it to the left of short leg. Pope gets a hand to it and the ball lobs away from him. He dives and takes a beauty to seal the game. ENGLAND WIN BY 113 RUNS!
Alzarri Josephc Dom Bess b Ben Stokes 9 17 1 0 52.94

Ben Stokes to Joseph, OUT! Caught! 9 down and England need just one wicket. Not a shot that West Indies would have wanted to see. Fuller ball outside off, Alzarri cannot stray away from his natural game with the willow as he goes for the drive. He hits it uppishly and straight to Bess at point. He takes a simple catch. One wicket away from leveling the series are England.
