Australia innings

Batting R B 4s 6s SR
Joe Burns b Shannon Gabriel 33 43 7 0 76.74
10.6
S Gabriel to Burns, out Bowled!! Bowled 'im! The extra ball has got Gabriel a wicket. He is delighted, has hands up in the air to celebrate. A much needed wicket for West Indies. It was on a good length and nipped back in, Burns was beaten on the forward defensive, the ball sneaks through bat and pad to hit the top of middle stump. He was done in for pace there as it was bowled at 147.2kph. Burns b S Gabriel 33(43) [4s-7]
David Warner c Ramdin b Warrican 64 61 11 0 104.92
23.4
Warrican to Warner, out Caught by Ramdin!! Warrican has got the second big wicket in this innings! Soft dismissal for Warner, he doesn't want to go, but the edge was found there. This was tossed up and down the leg-side, Warner was looking to work it away behind square on the on-side. The ball went off the face of the bat, Ramdin does well to get across and pouches the catch. The appeal was instantaneous and the umpire's finger went up. Warner knew there was bat on that, he doesn't bother to review. Suddenly, the session doesn't look too bad for the visitors. Warner c Ramdin b Warrican 64(61) [4s-11]
Steven Smith (captain)c J Blackwood b Warrican 10 32 1 0 31.25
19.3
Warrican to Smith, out Caught by Blackwood!! Lovely bowling from Warrican! He slowed down the pace, pitched on middle, drifted into Smith and got it to grip across the right-hander, Smith was pushing forward, plays with hard hands, the outside edge is found and it's a simple catch to Blackwood at first slip. Smith has a suspicious look at the pitch before trudging away, West Indies are fighting back. Smith c Blackwood b Warrican 10(32) [4s-1]
Adam Voges not out 269 285 33 0 94.39
Shaun Marsh c DM Bravo b Warrican 182 266 15 1 68.42
111.1
Warrican to S Marsh, out Caught by Darren Bravo!! Marsh's brilliant knock comes to an end. Gets a pat on the back and a handshake from his partner as he makes his walk back to the pavilion. Everyone is up on their feet to applaud the effort, the West Indians too congratulate him. Coming to the ball, it was floated up outside off, Marsh kneels down to play the slog sweep, hits it well but hits it straight down the throat of deep mid-wicket, who hardly had to move an inch to pouch that. Smith still hasn't declared. S Marsh c Darren Bravo b Warrican 182(266) [4s-15 6s-1]

West Indies innings

Batting R B 4s 6s SR
Kraigg Brathwaite lbw b J Hazlewood 2 26 0 0 7.69
8.3
Hazlewood to Kraigg Brathwaite, out Lbw!! So often this happens with short-statured batsman, even to good length deliveries they feel obliged to hang back. This is a prime example. Hitting the pitch hard on a length just outside off, nips back just enough to sneak past the inside edge of Brathwaite's defence and trap him in front of off. The only concern was the height. But it's good enough to take the bails. The first one down. Kraigg Brathwaite lbw b Hazlewood 2(26)
Rajendra Chandrika c S Smith b N Lyon 25 58 1 0 43.10
19.3
Lyon to Rajendra Chandrika, out Caught by Smith!! Edged and gone. Top stuff from the offie. After getting one to turn back sharply, Lyon gets this one to go straight, Chandrika gets a good stride forward and aims to play the cover-drive. Since the ball didn't turn, it takes the outside edge and goes to Smith at slip, who juggles and the ball hits the face after the first attempt. He then manages to pouch it on his second attempt. After doing all the hard work, Chandrika has thrown it away. Rajendra Chandrika c Smith b Lyon 25(58) [4s-1]
Darren Bravo c N Lyon b P Siddle 108 177 20 0 61.02
69.6
Siddle to Darren Bravo, out Caught by Lyon!! The final nail in the coffin for the West Indies in the first innings. Steven Smith has enforced the follow-on and the West Indies will come out to bat for the second time. Coming to the ball, it was bowled on a length slightly wide outside off, Bravo throws his bat at that as he looks to drive it on the up, ends up slicing it off the outside half of the bat and Lyon at point takes the simplest of catches. A soft dismissal to end a magnificent knock. Darren Bravo c Lyon b Siddle 108(177) [4s-20]
Marlon Samuels c & b N Lyon 9 14 1 0 64.29
25.1
Lyon to Samuels, out Caught&Bowled!! Stunner! He's a good fielder and this was a terrific take. Nice loopy off-break from Lyon, entices Samuels to play the drive, he goes for it away from the body and fails to control it, chips it to the left of Lyon, who dives full length and takes it with both hands. He was airborne as he took it. Second wicket for him and West Indies are in trouble. Samuels c and b Lyon 9(14) [4s-1]
Jermaine Blackwood c J Burns b N Lyon 0 5 0 0 0.00
25.6
Lyon to Blackwood, out Caught by Burns!! Another one! Top quality off-spin bowling from Lyon. Third wicket for him and West Indies slip further. Once more extra bounce, spun back sharply as well, Blackwood prods forward to defend, the inside edge is found, the ball deflects off the pad to Burns. This one dipped on the batsman and that made Blackwood unsure about his footwork. Blackwood c Burns b Lyon 0(5)
Denesh Ramdin (wk)b J Hazlewood 8 15 1 0 53.33
30.2
Hazlewood to Ramdin, out Bowled!! This is not missing the sticks. The ball keeps low and foxes Ramdin. West Indies have lost half their side for just 89 runs on the board. Ramdin will consider himself unlucky here. It was bowled in the back of a length area, Ramdin was rightly on the back foot to block, but it didn't bounce much and sneaked under his bat to crash into the off stump. Ramdin b Hazlewood 8(15) [4s-1]
Jason Holder (captain)lbw b P Siddle 15 29 1 0 51.72
39.3
Siddle to Holder, out Lbw!! Holder thinks about the review, looks at his partner, who asks him to walk back. I think that was worth a review as it was pretty high. Anyway, West Indies have lost their 6th wicket and Siddle has broken this stubborn 27-run stand. Oh dear! Darren Bravo, what have you done? A review would have saved Holder there as Eagle-Eye shows that it was missing the sticks. Good length delivery angling in, Holder tries to flick off the front foot, misses and is struck above the kneeroll. Impact was on the middle and it looked pretty high to the naked eye as well, but Bravo and the umpire thought otherwise. The shout was pretty confident from the Aussies and umpire Marais Erasmus raised his finger after a long thought. Eagle-Eye shows that ball was missing the leg stump by a long margin as well. Holder lbw b Siddle 15(29) [4s-1]
Kemar Roach c P Nevill b J Hazlewood 31 94 3 0 32.98
66.5
Hazlewood to Roach, out Caught by Nevill!! Hazlewood strikes early on day 3. This was bowled on a good length and holds its line just outside off, Roach hangs his bat at that, gets an outside edge that is easily snaffled by the keeper. Definitely not the start the West Indies were looking for, ends the 99-run partnership for the seventh wicket. Roach c Nevill b Hazlewood 31(94) [4s-3]
Jerome Taylor b J Hazlewood 0 1 0 0 0.00
66.6
Hazlewood to Jerome Taylor, out Bowled!! Hazlewood is on a hat-trick! Knocked him over, the fourth consecutive duck for Taylor against the Australians. This one nips back in from a length just outside off, Taylor pushes at it with his feet hardly moving, ekes out an inside edge that crashes into the stumps. The Australians are just a wicket away and Hazlewood will be on a hat-trick in the next over. Jerome Taylor b Hazlewood 0(1)

Kraigg Brathwaite b J Hazlewood 94 122 13 1 77.05
36.3
Hazlewood to Kraigg Brathwaite, out Bowled!! Oh no. No, no, no. Brathwaite didn't deserve this fate. But sadly the hundred was not to be. The Australians wait to see if Gabriel is walking out. He isn't. And the handshakes begin. Australia claim Hobart by an innings and 212 runs. Strange shot actually. Seemed to be deceived by the pace, or the lack of it. Length ball angled into off, Brathwaite was too early into the push, left a massive gap between the bat and pad as well. In the end, the bottom hand comes off the handle, he is beaten on the inside edge and the off pole is pegged back. Kraigg Brathwaite b Hazlewood 94(122) [4s-13 6s-1]
Rajendra Chandrika c S Smith b J Pattinson 0 3 0 0 0.00
1.3
J Pattinson to Rajendra Chandrika, out Caught by Smith!! Edged and gone! What a start for the Australians! Pattinson bags his first wicket of the game. This was bowled on a fuller length just outside off, the ball shapes away just a touch as Chandrika pushes at it with hard hands, gets an outside edge that flies to the right of second slip, Smith dives across and takes a good catch as the ball was travelling quickly and goes low towards him. Three ducks in four innings for Chandrika. Out comes Bravo once again. Rajendra Chandrika c Smith b J Pattinson 0(3)
Darren Bravo b J Pattinson 4 13 1 0 30.77
5.6
J Pattinson to Darren Bravo, out Bowled!! Cleaned 'im up. The umpire is checking for a no-ball and Bravo is waiting. The foot landed behind the line and that is a legal delivery. Bravo reluctantly trudges off the field. This is a big, big wicket for Australia. Pattinson is delighted as well, his second of the innings. It was on a driveable length and around off, Bravo goes for the drive, the ball straightens a touch, takes the inside edge and crashes into the stumps. Darren Bravo b J Pattinson 4(13) [4s-1]
Marlon Samuels c Warner b J Pattinson 3 6 0 0 50.00
7.5
J Pattinson to Samuels, out Caught by Warner!! Corker! Pattinson is on fire. West Indies are falling apart. Looks like a completely different bowler in this innings. After going wicketless in the first, he has three in the second innings. It was back of a length and reared up on Samuels, who was hanging back to defend, the ball takes the shoulder of the blade and balloons to Warner at gully, simplest of catches taken. Samuels couldn't have done much with that. Samuels c Warner b J Pattinson 3(6)
Jermaine Blackwood b J Pattinson 0 1 0 0 0.00
7.6
J Pattinson to Blackwood, out Bowled!! Pattinson is on a hat-trick. Blackwood bags a pair. He looks at the pitch after getting out, but it had nothing to do with the dismissal. West Indies are in complete disarray. Good length ball around off, Blackwood prefers to stay in the crease and defend, it tails back enough to go through Blackwood's defence and kisses the off-stump. He should have come forward rather than hanging back. Blackwood b J Pattinson 0(1)
Denesh Ramdin (wk)c Warner b Mitchell Marsh 4 11 0 0 36.36
11.1
Mitchell Marsh to Ramdin, out Caught by Warner!! Another one bites the dust. What a start for Mitchell Marsh. Strikes off his first ball. Loose shot though from Ramdin. Pitched up and inviting the batsman to drive, Ramdin takes the bait and flashes hard, the thickish outside edge flies towards gully, Warner reacts quickly and pouches a sharp catch to his right. Ramdin c Warner b Mitchell Marsh 4(11)
Jason Holder (captain)c P Nevill b J Pattinson 17 29 1 0 58.62
20.2
J Pattinson to Holder, out Caught by Nevill!! Oh no, what a terrible way to depart. Holder is really having to drag himself off here. He looks crestfallen. And Pattinson, what about him! He just has to roll his arm over today to strike gold. An absolute tripe ball. On a back of a length and down the leg-side, Holder tries to glance it away, only manages a fine tickle off the inside edge. Nevill moves across to his left and grabs it comfortably. Oh a nasty strangle down leg. Not how he would have wanted to cap off a five-wicket haul, but Patto would take it. Holder c Nevill b J Pattinson 17(29) [4s-1]
Kemar Roach c P Nevill b J Hazlewood 3 27 0 0 11.11
30.5
Hazlewood to Roach, out Caught by Nevill!! The previous ball unsettled him, and this one gobbles him up. Brilliant thinking from Hazlewood. Follows it up with a short ball, Roach was having none of it. Tried to hit his way out of trouble. But the ball skids on and hurries onto his attempted pull. Catches the glove on the way to the keeper. Just two away are the Aussies from victory. That's cos Gabriel won't be strapping the pads on. Roach c Nevill b Hazlewood 3(27)
Jerome Taylor c J Pattinson b J Hazlewood 12 8 2 0 150.00
34.4
Hazlewood to Jerome Taylor, out Caught by J Pattinson!! Okay, I built him up a bit too much on the previous ball. Now he's played an absolute stinker. Length ball on off, Taylor looks to swing through the line, too early into the shot and lobs it off the toe-end of the bat. Pattinson keeps his eye on the ball while backpedalling from mid-off. Grasps it with a reverse-cup. His weight was falling backwards and he did well to keep his balance. Jerome Taylor c J Pattinson b Hazlewood 12(8) [4s-2]
