Just when it seemed Afghanistan cricket was having a merry time, they have been hit with a setback after Mohammad Shahzad on Thursday was found guilty by ICC for dope charges.
Did you know three Imran Khans have played international cricket?
If found guilty, Mohammad Shahzad can be out of action for two to four years.
A test was conducted on Shahzad’s sample on January 17 this year at the ICC Academy in Dubai. The sample was further analysed at a laboratory in Salt Lake City, which is accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Mohammad Shahzad is not a shadow of the likes of Virender Sehwag or MS Dhoni, but the first of his kind.
Rashid Khan, Dawlat Zadran and Amir Hamza led their side’s comeback which ensured the Irish camp remained winless on the tour.
Shahzad went past Kohli’s tally of 1,709 runs during 3rd T20I against Ireland. He is now overall fourth on the list of most runs in T20Is.
If truth be told, the war-hit country do not have haters in this line of work. And if they keep playing cricket in this part of the world, the Nabis, the Shahzads, the Shenwaris, the Rashids, among others will soon be household names, because yo Afghanistan cricket so cool.
Mohammad Shahzad and Samiullah Shenwari led from the front after their side required 166 for victory, knocking off a huge chunk of Ireland’s total.
Two dominant associate nations of the cricket world come together for their first bilateral T20I and ODI series starting on March 8, when Ireland and Afghanistan meet.
