The ICC Board meeting concluded on Thursday with Sethi's candidature being considered.
Najam Sethi was slated to take over from Mustafa Kamal as the ICC president for a period of 12 months from July 1.
Kamal quit his position in the ICC on his return to the country.
Hassan added that the ICC was initially interested in investigating the case.
The ICC said that they could have sacked Kamal, but gave him an opportunity to withdraw his statements.
Presenting the trophy to the winners is something ICC presidents have done since 1999.
Bangladesh cricket will be served better if people keep their emotions in check and politicians stay off it.
Kamal has shown signs of high-handedness, especially during his tenure as the BCB President.
Sethi is scheduled to take over as ICC President in late June as a nominee of Pakistan.
Bangladesh’s Mustafa Kamal has been in the news lately and for all the wrong reasons and continues to do so. His ego was hurt and he was left fuming when he was denied the honour of handing over the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 winners’ trophy.
