Rampaul has reportedly given up hopes on returning for West Indies by turning a Kolpak player for English county side Surrey and signing a two-year contract.
Rampaul went on to say that he was once told by a West Indies selector that the factor working behind him not being picked for the national squad had more to do with how he looked on tv than how he bowled.
The Trinidadian last played for West Indies in their limited overs tour of Sri Lanka and has not played a Test in four years nor a first-class game in three years.
West Indies is placed in the Pool B alongside Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Ireland, India, UAE as well as South Africa.
