In a rain-marred match at Colombo on Tuesday, South Africa fell short of the Sri Lankan target by 17 runs based on Duckworth-Lewis method to succumb to their second consecutive loss in the five-match ODI series. The already truncated match (to 29 overs) was further reduced when rain stopped play at the end of the 21st over of the South African innings when they were on 104 for five. Subsequently, play was called off and Sri Lanka were adjudged winners as the par score at that stage was 121.
