England were bowled out for 172 in their first innings. Ian Bell top-scored with an unbeaten 72 and Michael Carberry scored 60. Mitchell Johnson was the star with the ball as he picked up seven wickets. He was twice on a hat-trick, but on both occasions he could not complete the milestone. Australia were at 132 for three at stumps on Day Three with a lead of 530 runs.
