Captain: David Warner
Coach: Tom Moody
Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by David Warner, is the second franchise from Hyderabad after Deccan Chargers withdrew from Indian Premier League at the end of the 2012 edition. While Deccan Chargers won the IPL in 2009, Sunrisers are yet to have their hands on the coveted trophy.
Their first season (2013) in IPL has been their best so far when they had finished in the fourth place. Following that Sunrisers have failed to qualify for the semi-finals in the next three seasons. Warner has been Sunrisers’ fifth skipper after the likes of Kumar Sangakkara, Cameron White, Shikhar Dhawan and Darren Sammy.
The current squad however looks promising and balanced with international stars and the local talent. The left-arm pacers, Barinder Sran, Mustafizur Rahman, Aashish Nehra and Trent Boult are being talked about prior to the ninth season of IPL as they strengthen the side. Fans come in thousands in Rajeev Gandhi Stadium when they play their home game. However, with this new side having a couple of most-admired cricketers across India, Sunrisers might find support even during their away games.
