Aussies make it a hat-trick of World Cup wins

 

Australia completed a hat-trick of World Cup wins in what was the longest scheduled World Cup ever. Adam Gilchrist's hundred in the final in fading light and Herschelle Gibbs’s six sixes in an over provided the entertainment, while Glen McGrath and Muttiah Muralitharan were the pick of the bowlers. But the tournament was overshadowed by Bob Woolmer's death. India and Pakistan's group exit made it one of most unforgettable tournaments of all time.
