As the tone that has been set in the series so far, Geoffrey Boycott had a lot of opinions about Kevin Pietersen’s batting.

When quizzed about in innings in Melbourne, the former England captain said, ” He has been out four for six times very cheaply. Kevin Pietersen should go down as one of the all time greats and the hundreds that he scored in Colombo, Mumbai and the way he tore the brilliant South Africa attack apart last year in England.”

“Its just that sometimes he doesn’t know what he his doing.”

Boycott although did admit that Pietersen played a very well crafted knock in the first innings.

Boycott lamented that the senior statesmen of England with such exceptional Test records namely Ian Bell, Alastair Cook and Kevin Pietersen had failed together and that the English camp need to refrain from making wholesale changes and bringing a more youngsters with quality like Ben Stokes.

Boycott concluded that ” one and half years is a very small gap in sport and England have to get down to business right away.
