Former Australia player Merv Hughes said that England made a good decision to bat first in the second Ashes Test match against Australia at Lord’s on Thursday as the conditions are ideal.

He feels with Australia batting last, it will be tough for them to win the match from there unless their bowlers give them a good start.

Hughes feels Australian bowlers need a bowl a lot better than how they bowled in the previous match. He also expressed his disappointment for not selecting Jackson Bird in the second Test. However, he felt it was a good decision to pick Ryan Harris as he is a “bullish” kind of a bowler and attacks the stump with a little bit of movement.
