Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon said that the pitch had little to offer to bowlers after the end of Day One of the fourth Ashes Test match against England at Chester-le-Street on Friday.

England were restricted to 238 for nine.  Lyon was the star for Australia as his spell of four for 42 led to an English collapse.

Lyon refused to comment on Joe Root’s dismissal after the England batsman was given out despite the Hot spot not showing up anything.

England skipper Alastair Cook won the toss and elected to bat first. The conditions were overcast early in the day and it was tough to bat.
