Australia beat India by 72 runs in the first One-Day International (ODI) game at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. Australia set India a daunting target of 305 which the visitors failed to chase down as they kept losing wickets at the regular intervals.

For Australia Aaron Finch, George Bailey hit half-centuries and helped the visitors reach a competitive total. India failed to get big partnerships which stalled their momentum.

The next game will be held in Jaipur on October 16.
