Ed Cowan scores half-century in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Hobart. Cowan played a gritty innings alongside opening partner David Warner as the rest of the Australian batting line-up succumbed to Rangana Herath's spin bowling.

Australia collapsed, losing their last eight wickets for 146, after openers Warner (68) and Cowan (56) put on 132 for the first wicket.

Sri Lanka were struggling at 65 for two at stumps on the fourth day, in pursuit of 393 to win against Australia in the opening Test match at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
