BCCI likely to suspend Siddharth Trivedi for not reporting bookies’ approach
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to suspend Rajasthan Royals’ cricketer Siddharth Trivedi for not reporting the approach made by bookies to its Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU).
According to The Indian Express, the cricketer will be issued a show cause notice by the BCCI and is likely to be suspended pending enquiry, which is headed by Ravi Sawani, a BCCI official said.
The BCCI was not aware that Trivedi was approached by bookies and this came into light only after he turned a prosecution witness against S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan.
According to PTI, 30-year-old Trivedi had refused to accept an invitation by Chandila, a player arrested on charges of spot-fixing, to attend a party arranged by bookies. He had also refused money and gifts offered by the bookies.
