Arthur said that it was bad to lose a day's play and that Australia must make the new ball work for them on day three.

Arthur also spoke about JP Duminy, who was ruled out of the series with an achilles' heal injury.

The umpires, who were monitoring the conditions since morning, finally decided to call it a day at 4pm local time. They have, however, declared that play will begin 30 minutes early tomorrow.

Weather permitting, South Africa will begin Day Three where they left off on the first day, holding an advantage at 255 for two. Yesterday, Hashim Amla (90*) and Jacques Kallis (84*) dominated Australia's bowlers to seize control after captain Graeme Smith (10) departed early.
