England‘s newly crowned One-Day International (ODI) skipper, Eoin Morgan, made strong, confident comments prior to start of the Tri-Series involving India, England and Australia. This will be Morgan’s first assignment at the helm, after Alastair Cook’s sacking.

Cook was sacked from the position due to a string of terrible performances by England in the ODI format. England’s 5-2 ODI-series loss to Sri Lanka was the tipping point for Cook’s sacking. With the ICC World Cup 2015 looming large, England were desperate to try and make amends, appointing Morgan as skipper.

Morgan has previously captained England in the format on a few instances but doesn’t boast a great record. He will hope to rectify that record in the tri-series that got underway in Australia on January 16.
