South African speedster Dale Steyn achieved the landmark of 400-wickets when he claimed the wicket of Tamim Iqbal during the first day of the second Test against Bangladesh at Mirpur. He became the 13th bowler in Test cricket and second from South Africa to enter the 400-club.
Steyn’s ability of bowling quick accompanied with swing and bounce makes him the best fast bowler from his generation. In the above video by Cricket South Africa, star batsmen AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla, along with other cricketers from the country like Morne Morkel, Faf du Plessis, and Vernon Philander recall the bowling moments from Steyn’s journey.
De Villiers, who made his debut alongside Steyn in December 2004, remembered a Steyn spell in the Nagpur Test in 2010, when the paceman took seven wickets for 51 runs. That spell also included the wicket of Sachin Tendulkar and de Villiers hailed Steyn’s plan to get the Master. He got the better of him by bowling a couple of inswingers followed by an outswinger. De Villiers describes that wicket of as the most precious one. The video is a fine tribute to one of the best bowlers of this generation.
