Long before the razzmatazz of Twenty20 (T20) cricket became the in thing , Test cricket was the flavour of the day. So fierce were the rivalries between top teams that cricket purists would wait religiously for the Test series to happen. Back then, India shared some healthy rivalries with neighbours Pakistan and Australia in particular.

The fans would trade anything, simply anything to watch the ultimate five-day contest between these teams. Players like Sunil Gavaskar, Gundappa Viswanath, Kapil Dev, Dilip Vengsarkar et al were revered around the country. Similarly for Australia, players like Greg Chappell, Alan Border, and Dennis Lillee etc held huge significance. These players competed against each other in the iconic series of 1981 Down Under. India, under the captaincy of Gavaskar, toured Australia for a three-Test series. The buzz was massive for the contest and in order to take it to hysterical levels, the official broadcaster of the series Channel 9 got a commercial made.

The ad, which was a catchy song Come on Aussies with players names an integral part of the lyrics, became hugely popular and created a lot of hype. It also featured video clips of players from both the sides. The series eventually lived up to the build-up and was drawn 1-1, with India coming back to win the last Test at Melbourne by 59 runs after losing the first one at Sydney comprehensively.
