South Africa skipper Graeme Smith lauded all-rounder Jacques Kallis for his gritty batting against Australia on the fifth day of the second Test at Adelaide on Monday.

Kallis scored a gritty 46, adding 99 runs with Faf du Plessis for the sixth wicket helping South Africa save the Test match.

Kallis, who had suffered a hamstring injury on Day One, played two crucial knocks with the bat in the second Test match. His knock in the first innings helped the visitors save the follow-on, while his knock in the second innings helped them to avoid the defeat.
