In the day and age of hard hitting, Sunil Gavaskar, the legend of Indian cricket played some amazing quick knocks in his early days as well. On his birthday on July 10, we share a video of him scoring his only One-Day International (ODI) century which came against New Zealand in 1987.

Incidentally it was the very same match in which Chetan Sharma took the first ever hat-trick in World Cup as India bowled out New Zealand for a score of 221. The pair of Kris Srikkanth and Sunil Gavaskar added 136 runs for the opening wicket that set the game up for them. Gavaskar went onto score his ton and was unbeaten on 103 in 88 balls. The knock included 10 boundaries and three big hits over the fence. Read: World Cup 1987: Chetan Sharma takes first World Cup hat-trick before Sunil Gavaskar blitzkrieg
