India A got to a commanding 304 for six at the end of Day One of the first game against hosts Australia A. Jiwanjot Singh, skipper Manoj Tiwary and wicketkeeper Naman Ojha all got fifties to help India A to their total. Ojha was unbeaten on 82 at stumps. For the Australians, Ben Cutting, Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Boyce took two wickets each. Cutting in particular was quick and intimidating, frequently using the short ball to good effect. It was his relentless barrage of short bowling to Jiwanjot that finally resulted in his dismissal. Jiwanjot was swerving and ducking quite well against the short balls from Cutting, but they just kept coming, till he finally edged one to the ‘keeper.
