Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli guided India to a comprehensive six-wicket victory over the West Indies in the first One-Day International (ODI) at the Nehru Stadium, Kochi. Chasing 212 to win the game, India were never really threatened during their run-chase and sealed the deal with ease. West Indies were bowled out for 211 due to Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja's three-wicket hauls.

The variable bounce in the innings was obvious early during the Indian innings. Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan watched a few deliveries early on and Jason Holder troubled them a little. Holder finally had his success when he had Dhawan edging to the wicket-keeper.

Then came Kohli and in partnership with Rohit, he took complete control of the game.
