India have retained their number one spot in the ICC One-Day International (ODI) Rankings for teams. Owing to the two washouts against Australia, India stayed at the top spot and did not lose it.

The visitors Australia, who are on the second spot, needed to beat India by a margin of 6-1 to steal the number one ranking. However, that result would not be possible as the seven-match affair has been effectively reduced to a five-game one.

India's last two ODIs against Australia would be played at Nagpur and Bangalore. They have to win at Nagpur to stay alive in the series going into the last game at Bangalore.
