Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root became the first Yorkshire pair to record a century-stand in Test cricket at their home ground at Headingley, Leeds.

The duo put together 124 for the fifth wicket. Root recorded his first century in Test cricket but was out soon after for 104.

Bairstow scored 64 and was dismissed nine runs after Root fell. Both the Yorkshiremen were dismissed by Trent Boult.
