Chairman of the Selection Committee Krisnamachari Srikkanth said on Saturday that he was hoping VVS Laxman would be playing the upcoming New Zealand series.

Srikkanth also said that Laxman was not only a great batsman but also a great human being and his retirement was a huge loss to Indian cricket.
He also said that it is quite surprising that two of the greatest players, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman, has retired at the same time.
“It is a quite shocking retirement. He has made his decision. This is his personal decision and we should respect his personal decision.
”We were hoping that he would play in New Zealand series. He is going with inner voice we will have to respect his voice.”
“It’s a great coincidence that Rahul Dravid and Laxman retired around the same time. They are not going to play in New Zealand series. They have done so many inhuman and superhuman jobs.”
Former wicket-keeper Kiran More said that a player like Laxman is born once in 50 years.
