After opting to bat first, West Indies did not have good start losing both their openers in the first session – Kraigg Brathwaite was trapped in front by Kuldeep Yadav, while Kieran Powell was caught off R Ashwin

Indian debutant Shardul Thakur limped off after bowling just 10 deliveries and scans later revealed that the Mumbai bowler had injured his ankle, thus putting a question mark over his availability for the reminder of the match

But there was other drama as well with a fan managing to breach the security and tried to kiss the Indian skipper Virat Kohli

Post lunch, West Indies went on to lose three more wickets in the form of Shimron Hetmyer (12), Sunil Ambris (18) and Shane Dowrich (30)

However, Roston Chase put in a stern resistance and found good company in Dowrich to put on 69 runs for the sixth wicket

Chase continued on and with Jason Holder added 104 runs for the seventh wicket

Roston Chase remained unbeaten on 98 while Holder was picked up by Umesh Yadav for 52

For India Kuldeep Yadav picked three wickets. West Indies ended Day 1 on 295/7
