Mitchell Starc took six wickets against South Africa in the third Test of the 2012 series at Perth, however failed to bowl his team to victory despite taking so many wickets. South Africa, in fact, won that match with ease cruising home by margin of 309 runs! Starc bowled very well but was also quite expensive, conceding runs at over 5 RPO. The win sealed series victory for South Africa as the previous two Tests in the series were drawn. Starc is considered a good prospect in Test cricket but has failed to live up to expectations as yet, though he has shown the willingness and ability to improve.
