England national selector Geoff Miller expressed his happiness at the manner in which England retained the Ashes urn by beating Australia in the first two Tests and drawing the third to take an unassailable lead.

He felt that England deserved the urn retention and said that the side played some good cricket in order to facilitate that. He also spoke about the U-19 squad.

He praised the ground staff at the Riverside ground in Chester-le-street, which hosts its first Ashes Test. Miller went on to say that he was looking forward to England not just retaining the Ashes but also going on to winning it,either in the fourth Test at Chester-le-street or the fifth game at the Oval.
