With Indian pacer Mohammed Shami breathing fire in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens yesterday and recording the best fast bowling test debut ever in the history of Indian cricket by taking nine wickets for 118, his family in Uttar Pradesh is busy celebrating his remarkable feat. Not only his family but his neighbours are also overjoyed over Shami’s achievement.

Mohammed Shami has been terrific on Test debut — bowling India to a win on a track that didn’t have much for the seamers. His match figures of nine for 118 are the second best figures by an Indian debutant, second to Narendra Hirwani’s 16 for 136.
